Custom rosters? Not needed, just play.
    Sliders? Not needed, just play.
If something wonky happens? Just play.
    Stat outliers? Just play.

It really IS that simple...it's a bleeping video game...all that matters is playing the game and having fun.

The beauty of this game is that if you just focus on playing the next game and allow the narrative to unfold naturally, you're going to see SO many ebbs and flows, so many cool moments.

And honestly, the deeper you go, the better it gets....

Great advice. Play the game to enjoy it for what it is, not to try and replicate every single thing in real world MLB...

I'm similar in that I get through quite a few seasons in a year and I play all winter also. I love the NFL but i gave up on Madden 2 years ago. So the show is the only video game I play.

Also I play usually 2 games a night after work and the kids go to bed. And then a lot more on the weekends in between other activities.

The beauty of the game is that you can play however you want. What I mean is, you can play every pitch of every game or you can play one sim three/five/whatever. You can use whatever roster, whatever sliders, etc. The most important thing is to do what gives you the most enjoyment out of it.

As for me, I've only been playing a game or two max everyday. On the weekends I might get three, but it's a stretch. I'm trying to pick up the pace because I'm in a very intriguing third season with the Nationals and I really want to see what will become of it.

          2024 Washington Nationals

Game One: Jordan Hicks (2-7, 4.58) vs Zach Davies (1-5, 4.64)
The Giants enter this series with the worst offense in the NL, but they didn’t let that stop them from manufacturing three runs in the second off of Zach Davies. Washington would get one run back in the third when Lucius Fox, who is turning into quite a story thus far, finished a seven pitch at bat with a single up the middle. He then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error, and would score when Luis Garcia singled. The Giants returned the favor with a solo home run in the fifth by Willie Calhoun, but Washington countered with another run from Lucius Fox in the bottom of the inning. The scenario was similar to his run earlier in the game: base hit, stolen base, and then advancing to third; but this time on a wild pitch. He then scored on a ground ball from Brandon Nimmmo. Zach Davies would exit after this fifth inning, giving up four runs on seven hits, no walks and one strikeout. Josiah Gray would come on in relief and give the bullpen three solid innings. Zach Warren pitched the ninth, striking out the side while allowing one hit. The Nationals could not fight back, however, and lost 5-2.

Game Two: Alex Wood (3-4, 3.95) vs MacKenzie Gore (5-4, 5.69)

The Giants got off to an early lead when Eli White, who has been the Giants cleanup man, singled to score Austin Slater. The Nats answered right back in the first when Kike Hernandez homered, and then Washington took the lead in the second on a single from Wilmer Perez and sac fly from Lucius Fox. Fox’s breakout continued when he capped off a four run third with a three-run triple to center. The Nationals’ were able to work Wood into long counts, drawing walks and getting base knocks, and the bottom of the lineup came through big time. Lucius Fox would have to leave the game in the sixth after he felt tightness in his back following a nice play at short, but the injury is such that he will likely just need a day or two of rest. The Nationals put up another four spot in the sixth, two runs scoring when Victor Robles doubled and then Kike Hernandez and Brandon Drury each hate RBI singles to make it an 11-2 score. The Giants would rally in the eighth and ninth, but could only score four runs and the Nationals win just their second game of the month, 11-6.

Game Three: Kyle Harrison (1-3, 5.00) vs Lucas Giolito (4-5, 5.04)
Mitch Haniger doubled in the first to score Andrew Vaughn, giving Washington the early lead. They would extend the lead in the second when Luis Garcia doubled in Brandon Nimmo, but then San Francisco would score seven unanswered runs between the third and sixth innings, turning Lucas Giolito’s promising start into a disaster. The Nationals could only score one run off of the Giants’ tired bullpen, despite the fact that Brandon Nimmo led off the seventh with a triple. It was another poor showing for the offense, especially Anthony Rizzo, who started the year hot but has gone ice cold even before being sat for rest.

The Nationals (33-42) are most likely out of the playoff race for 2024, and the rumor mills are starting to get going already. Will Dave Martinez be managing at the end of the season? What about the GM? How many moves will be made at the trade deadline? It would definitely seem like the rebuild has taken a big step backwards this year, and while ownership knew it would be a multiyear project when they brought in the new GM in 2022, the 2023 season really spoiled everyone. Stay tuned, things might get interesting.

I haven’t been able to play as much as I’d like since I restarted my Mets franchise but I’m doing better than I anticipated. I just finished April and we’re a few games above .500 and just one back of the Braves. I signed Miguel Sano before the season started and he’s got an almost 900 OPS so far. I also traded for Dairon Blanco from the Royals, he runs like Mays and hits like **** but he’s incredibly fun to play with. He had 15 stolen bases in April despite hitting about .180 but I just lost him for a few weeks with a finger injury he got stealing a base. I guess this game needs to give us oven mitts for our base runners

2023 World Series - Game 4 - Cardinals vs Astros (Cardinals lead series, 2-1)

The Cardinals would jump on Astros SP Luis Garcia for 5 runs in the first inning and Jordan Montgomery would allow 2 runs over 6 innings and the Cardinals would win 7-2.

2023 World Series - Game 5 - Cardinals vs Astros (Cardinals lead series, 3-1)

The Cardinals hope to close out this series and win their 12th World Series title, 12 years later from their last title in 2011.

Miles Mikolas had a rough first outing but he's still the ace of this team. He will oppose Jose Urquidy, he will be making his first postseason start for the Astros.

Pirates win vs Orioles but lose key piece for season

The Pirates won two of three against the Orioles for their first series win in May after their rocky start to the month. But that sadly isnt the top story coming out of the series.

The Pirates lost Bryan Reynolds for the season in game three of the series as Reynold's foot got stuck in a rain soaked infield as he tried to drive back to first on a pickoff attempt. The injury is a torn ACL and all Bryan can do is look forward to 2025. The Pirates thus far are undecided on what to do in terms of a replacement. Last seasons #1 overall pick Yoennis Sherry may be the one to get the call as he has performed well in his 28 games in double A. Miguel Andujar also could get the call to bring up some experience as he performed well in his time on the MLB team last season. Whoever, it is will get the call before the Pirates get back home for their three game series with the Reds (14-26/5th NL Central)

2023 World Series - Game 5 - Cardinals vs Astros (Cardinals lead series, 3-1)

Both pitchers would pitch well, neither would allow a run through 6 innings and then came the rain delay. After the 45 minute rain delay, Oli Marmol would pull Mikolas after 1 batter. The bullpen had a great 7th inning, but the 8th inning would be a disaster that started when Jordan Walker would drop a pop fly in RF. After that, the Astros would get to Jordan Hicks for 2 runs. In the 9th inning they would add another HR from Yordan Alvarez, his 8th of the postseason. The real story was Jose Urquidy, he pitched 7 innings, allowing no runs and only 6 hits. Astros bullpen was perfect and Ryan Pressly would close it out, Final - Astros 3, Cardinals 0.

Not an official update on my Charlotte franchise but had a couple of bonkers MLB the Show moments yesterday...

Grounded into a Triple Play! Rolled over a change up to third base with runners on first and second. The Mets tagged the runner going to third, tossed to second and tossed to first for a triple play. Was kind of incredible to watch ha.

Had a massive 8 run comeback with against the Giants. Was down 9-1 in the 8th inning and put up 8 runs in the 8th and had a walk off single in the 9th.

                            2024 Washington Nationals

Game One: Spencer Strider (1-4, 3.58) vs Stephen Strasburg (5-6, 2.81)
The bottom of the Braves’ lineup, so soaring of Robert Neustrom, Buddy Montgomery, and Beau Philip, did most of the damage in this game, driving in four of the Braves’ five runs. Beau Philip, a second round pick from 2019, hit a home run on the first pitch of his first major league at bat. That set the tone for this game, with Stephen Strasburg giving up four runs in five innings on six base hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Josiah Gray finished the game, going four strong innings and giving up a run on two hits, walking two and striking out six. Gray has been getting better in each of his bullpen appearances and may be moving back into the rotation in the near future. As for the Nationals, they left thirteen men on base and were unable to score a single run. Spencer Strider was the definition of “effectively wild”: giving up three walks and a hit batter while also striking out six (one of the strikeouts would reach on an error) but only giving up one base hit. Strider would only go four innings due to a high pitch count, allowing Jameson Taillon to come in and earn the win from the bullpen.

Game Two: Mike Soroka (9-2, 3.50) vs Felipe Escalona (3-3, 4.59)
The Braves got to Felipe Escalona in their meeting just five days ago, but he was able to turn the tables in this one; going five innings while giving up two runs on six hits, two walks and six strikeouts. Escalona got early run support from Mitch Haniger, who singled to score Andrew Vaughn in the first, and from Luis Garcia, who hit a two-run home run in the third. Washington was able to get an insurance run from CJ Abrams in the sixth, as he singled to score Lucius Fox. Fox was solid at the plate again, going three for four and also swiping a base which led to the fourth and final run for the Nats. Washington’s bullpen kept Atlanta off the board for four innings, with Carl Edwards, Aaron Bummer, Victor Arano, and Trevor Rosenthal each going one inning.

Game Three: Max Fried (7-1, 2.90) vs Zach Davies (1-6, 4.87)

Max Fried continued his domination of Washington, giving up just one run despite allowing eight hits. The Nationals once again could not capitalize on their opportunities, stranding ten runners on base. The Braves scored six runs off of Zach Davies and another three off Joan Adon to cruise to an easy 9-1 victory. Atlanta lost two shortstops to injury during the game, first Aledmys Diaz went down with a sprained knee ligament and then Beau Philip, in just his second career game, suffered bruised ribs attempting to make a diving stop.

The Nationals (34-44) now travel to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers (41-38) in a three game series.

I'm running a franchise with the A's - I'm in my third year, and I've seen my budget grow exponentially (without using sponsors) I think base on my teams standings and performance.

However, does the budget also decrease if you perform poorly in seasons?

Another question - Is there any penalty in franchise if I was to sign a player for a big contract (length and dollars) and if my team performs poorly to just trade him away for prospects? Do I get hit with a financial penalty at all? Or does the other team take on the contract?

Pirates sweep Reds to reclaim top spot in the NL Central

Miguel Andujar was called up to the MLB team to take Bryan Reynold's spot after Reynold's season ending injury. Last years #1 overall pick Yoennis Sherry was called up to triple A Indianapolis.

Andujar took over the starting CF position for Reynolds, played in two games in the Reds series and went 0-7. He did however have one rbi in game one. Andujar is slotted in the lineup to bat 5th while Ke' Bryan Hayes moved from that spot to take Reynold's #3 spot.

In game one of the Reds series, both Blake Snell and Hunter Green took no hitters into the 5th inning and both gave up their first hits and two runs in that inning. Cincinnati struck first as Spencer Steer hit a two rbi double. The Pirates answered back in that same inning with RBIs by Matt Frazier and Oneil Cruz.

The sixth inning saw Miguel Andujar hit what could have been his first hit of 2023 as he blooped a ball down into left field but Ke'Bryan Hayes was late getting to second and was thrown out. CJ Cron was able to score however and the Pirates took the 3-2 lead. That lead would hold up through the game as David Bednar eventually saved his twelfth game of the season.

Game two saw both offenses fail to put runs on the board and Pittsburgh eventually won it with an 11th inning sac fly that scored Oneil Cruz off Buddy Kennedys bat for the 1-0 victory.

The Pirates bats came alive in the third game as they batted around and scored five runs in the 1st inning off of Cincinnati's starter Eury Perez who ended up lasting just 1.2 innings. The scoring didn't stop with his departure as the Pirates went on to a 12-2 victory. Anthony Santander did hit his team leading twelfth homerun of the game.

The Pirates will now enter the final series of their homestand with four Vs. Colorado (13-31/5th NL West)
