Very simple. Like someone said, MLB is the publisher at least for Xbox, so Xbox worked out the Game Pass deal with them. Sony can very easily put this game, and any first party game, on their own subscription service (PS+). But then they’d lose out on sales revenue from the millions of copies this game sells, which they aren’t going to do. It’s a good example of how the two companies approach games these days. Will Sony ever jump more into the MS/Game Pass kind of thing? Looking at present day Sony and I’d laugh and say no way, but you never know I guess.

Just saying optics are bad IMO. MLB the Show was seen as an exclusive for years and Xbox was able to pry it free. You’d think PlayStation would want to at the very least match that. Is it possible that they loose potential buyers over this sort of thing? Maybe. Are they stingy? IMO yes.

About if the games has been improved enough to warrant a purchase IDK guess I’ll have to make a choice. Game Pass makes it much easier. So maybe the answer for me is Xbox. I’ll think about it.

I understand where you are coming from believe me. I am just not sure what the process is to get it on the playstation suscription. Might be about the money who knows. Maybe xbox pays more to the company to add it to their catalog. Nobody really truly knows.

So I have Xbox Series X and PS5.

Could be wrong but personally think it plays better on Playstation. I bought the 100 version just to play it on my playstation.
Idl if there is any truth to it or it's all in my head but feel like it plays smoother on playstation.

Interesting especially with both systems having pretty much the same hardware. I think Xbox has more vram on the GPU as well. The dual sense is a plus as well. I think the dual sense is amazing for single player games and Xbox Elite for competitive shooters.

Why do you keep saying its free? its part of a paid monthly subscription plan. Also for a long time MLB missed out on a whole demographic of potential buyers because it was exclusively on one platform. The opening it up to that demographic was successful and profitable and opened up alot of eyes to the game im a prime example I never gave a second thought to-baseball or the show now I cant put it down and am a big baseball fan!! They arent just giving the game away!!

I hear PS is going to offer the game free next year, plus 1,000,000 stubs.

I heard they were going to bundle it with a free ps5 and give them to xbox owners. but if you dont own an xbox, you have to pay $40 a month in user fees to play it on playstation. and if you dont pay, they're sending Coach to your house to get it from you one way or another.


personally, I dont care what Xbox does with thelr version. as long as the Show is worth it, I dont mind paying

It is what it is.

Sony does publish the game and has license to the MLB, however MLB told Sony a few years ago that it needs to be multiplatform, thus it now appearing on Xbox and Switch. MLB has nothing to do with it being on either subscription service, and is entirely the decision of either platform.

People aren’t buying GPU (Gamepass Ultimate) for The Show. There’s still a huge segment of people who own PlayStation consoles and are happy to pay per title. The sales of Sony exclusives reflect this.

just giving you a perspective and reasoning as to why its on game pass!! I could think of 20 people alone who got put onto thr game and sport just by doing it!! Im also thinking there is a percentage cut for every month and game downloaded from game pass!! they have opened this game up to everyone and its paid off!!

I honestly feel like this is akin to going to Target and asking them why Walmart has the same item for cheaper. Sony and Microsoft are 2 completely different entities and there shouldn't be an expectation that Sony would include this game in a package just because Microsoft does.

Xbox sales were seriously lagging compared to PS5's so it would make sense that they are doing things to try and get more customers.

do you also find it laughable that TV shows are on netflix for 'free' too and people have to buy those tv shows physically to own to watch anytime?
