Yes. I saw some sims from last year where Desmond Ridder was throwing 40 plus TD passes every season and I was like WTF? I love Ridder and I'm glad the Falcons are rolling with him in 2023 but I'd bet my life he never ever has a 40 TD season.

I find this formula seems to be best so far especially for starters

      (((IP/GP)/7.25)*100))

I used this formula and used 2 teams (Orioles and Blue Jays)... with the default pitching slider. Not even one pitcher went over 200 IP, the highest were like 190-193. No CG either. It seems to give the most accurate result.

As for relivers, those are always the pain in the butt part. I do find 8 relievers leaves the 8th reliever/odd pitcher out with barely any games pitched. I personally like 7 relievers. But so far I haven't seen any over 100 games pitched... thankfully. That was frustrating in the past. But again I'm still working around it. Only did 2 teams. I've tried different combinations. 4MRP, 2SU, and a Closer seems to be best but I don't like how they barely use the 2nd Setup man. But I do notice the guy with higher stamina gets all the games played over the better pitchers.

Over the years I have always hated the stats from the top names in the minors. Like you would think some of them would have big time seasons in the minors to push your hand to bring them up. I have not gotten far enough in a season yet this year but hope that is fixed.

The Batting Averages have seemed to "regress to the mean" for most of my simulated seasons; I have no idea why I was seeing so many in my early sims (40ish range). I may have had a slider adjusted somewhere that made them go crazy who knows. Really outside of the lack of strike outs and bullpen usage everything looking solid enough to play this game for a while.

Just need a patch to fix frame rate and some bugs and await the roster update with Tatis etc. Hopefully some updates to guys like Jordan Walker as well...

Looking Like I'm going to adjust Hum/Cpu sliders just to be safe for sim.

Starter Stamina - 2 or 0 (I'll sim a couple just to see if anything stands out.)
          Reliever Stamina - 2
          CPU Hook - 10
*If I see hitting statistics not to my liking I'll adjust everything to 0

If anyone doing anything different or similar post them so we know what everyone is trying out

Some of the weird issues you see for higher batting averages and pitchers not being used is that in my franchise I started noticing position players pitch hitting and then they pitch for 2to 3 innings and relief pitchers are not being used. Take a look at high score games and look at the box score which may show position players pitching multiple innings.

              - I think reliever stamina is irrelevant. I think Long Relief guys are going to make an insane amount of appearances and pitch 2+ innings every time they pitch. I don't think ZERO relief stamina is the way to go for reliever appearances b/c you will see a lot of guys not pitch one inning per appearance. I think if you leave it around 2ish you will see guys closer to 1:1 ratios. Before the new rules when you had specialists this wasn't a big deal but I imagine most of your better guys are pitching a whole inning these days. I think deep down, the appearances and innings aren't what make me nuts, usually they are an appearance to 2 inning ratio which is ok; it's that they factor in the win-loss decisions too much. Which I understand the logic b/c they come in during innings 4-6.

              - The Second Set-Up Spot has to be where you put the least used or worst bullpen guy for every team. Period.
Could we put LR guy in SU2 spot? Or would that not make any difference?

One other thing to consider when looking at stats such as CGs or IPs being too high, is that default injury settings are significantly too low. We have to put injuries at 7 or 8 to get realistic numbers (though in previous years, their were too many pos players and not enough pitchers injured).

"Could we put LR guy in SU2 spot? Or would that not make any difference?"

It will not make a difference if you have anyone in LR1 - if you only have a 12 man pitching staff then it will help. Usually your Long Relief guys are your "mop up guys" or less effective/talented pitchers/6th Starter so hiding that guy in SU2 is what I plan on doing. But again no matter who you have in LR spots, whether a 25 stamina range guy like Tim Mayza or a 6th starter, they are going to rack up more innings or very close to as some of your starters. I've even tried the 3 pitchers in LR spots and none in the Set-Up roles but it didn't help.

One way to balance the bullpen usage a little bit is to keep the starter stamina higher than 0 and lower the CPU Hook slider from 10; but you will have to live with more complete games and shutouts. It's user preference at this point.

There are 70 players currently hitting .300 or higher, clearly MLB the show is right.

That's because you're looking at an extremely small sample size. Give it more time and I guarantee you the number of players hitting over .300 will dramatically reduce.

                        not so fast my friends,
for comparison, 2022 had 11 batting over .300,
if 50 are still over .300 (while also qualifying for the batting title)at seasons end,
then I'll concede the Show replicated it correctly

Like I explained way back on page 1 or 2, I'd put the over/under at 25-30 being at .300 at season's end based on historical data. That would be a marked increase over the last couple of years which is to be expected with the shift being banned. But it's not an outrageous number like 50 or 70.

The reason I don't think we'll see that amount is that players aren't going to change their approach a lot without the shift. They're still gonna be focused on trying to drive the ball and hit homeruns. We might see a few more hitters cut down their swing with 2 strikes and try to take advantage of the shift not being there.

Honestly, from watching the games over the first 10 days or so of the season, I haven't seen a ton of difference with the shift being banned. Fielders are making a ton of incredible plays to turn batted balls into outs. It really does feel like a throwback to the 90s when middle infielders really got to show off their range and athleticism. So instead of having a fielder making a routine out from short right field the 2nd baseman is diving and making the play and the out is still being recorded. It's definitely more enjoyable IMO. In fact, all the new rules are more enjoyable IMO.

yeah, I'm not gonna deny I hate saying anything positive about Manfred, but I'll admit there are some good things that the last couple weeks made me glad to have these new rules. still not crazy about 3 batters faced minimum rule though.

but if my Show 23 seasons produce 2000 era batting average above .300 amount total players (50plus), I'm not gonna sweat it because whether it happens or not IRL this year, I still think batters benefit more because the weapon of throwing hitters timing off by taking huge amounts of time being removed hurts pitchers more than batters.
just my opinion of how huge a role the pitch clock is gonna be

So far league batting average is .249 which brings it up from the last 3 years going from .245,.244, .243.This is more where it was 2019 so it very well may be a minimal difference.
