Re: Too many strikeouts
That's with you pitching. I ended up getting to 1-1 counts from 0-0, which is the count QC gives a large majority of the time. The cpu very rarely will put a ball in play with 0-0 count. Honestly, I can't recall that ever happening for me. The first pitch was either not swung at, fouled, or swung and miss. You've said that before. And so I tested it. It's false. Quick Counts increased strike outs by a significant degree (iirc, it was by like 30-35%). It makes a huge difference.
Which makes sense. You're removing 0-0 counts. Irl, starting with a 0-0 count has a 22.7% chance of resulting in a strike out. But if you remove 0-0, 0-1, and 1-0 counts that jumps to 30.8%. Which is a 35% increase and the difference between averaging a league average 8.7 k/9 and getting 11.8 k/9.
The game even straight up says you'll get more strikeouts on Quick Counts. "Overall, you'll see an increase in strikeouts and base on balls balanced by fewer fouls."

Sorry, but your data from you pitching is just your data. I have pitched many games without QC and easily get 1-2 and 0-2 counts more than I would get from using QC. Strikeouts would probably increase for me overall without QC if I tracked it. But only very slightly. That's why overall I feel they even out to be pretty much the same outcome. I know for a fact that without, I would be lucky to issue 1 or 2 walks in a game. At least with QC my walks issued are at a realistic rate and amount.

Re: Too many strikeouts
Exactly. I go play MLB 22, or 21 using QC and I'm fighting to even get 10ks total in a game. MLB 23 I have 10ks before the 7th inning 90% of the time. "But nothing wrong with the game, must be your settings." Ha! Yeah okay. This may be true but in comparison to older MLB games the strikeout with quick counts is a problem in my opinion. It only presents itself as a problem in MLB23 for me.
I play quick counts exclusively. I play MLB20, MLB22 and MLB23. I bounce around on them for different franchises on MLB23 strikeouts are major issue (my starters are 1 through 5 in K leaders and my team is way, way in the lead in Ks) This is not an issue in MLB20 or MLB23 franchises. This is large sample size in all 3 games (50+ games minimum in each).
They fundamentally changed the game that caused this problem. Plain and simple. If you don't see the strikeouts like some do, that is user skill and some players being better at pitching vs the cpu than you are. This isn't some ego boost challenge either, idgaf about that. And this is classic pitching interface. I can't speak on meter or pinpoint.

Re: Too many strikeouts
Did I say that? No. Some are better than others at pitching vs the cpu is all I said. Why is that such a problem to say? Most are better at hitting than I am. Who cares. But I've said it before, I didn't magically become some God pitcher in MLB 23 lol. Not when I pitch the same way on MLB 22 and my Ks are virtually cut in half.

Re: Too many strikeouts
To get back on track a bit.......I can't stress enough that raising the CPU foul frequency really, really helps the too many K's issue a lot. It took me until November but I'm finally having a lot of fun with this game.Did I say that? No. Some are better than others at pitching vs the cpu is all I said. Why is that such a problem to say? Re: Too many strikeouts
Hmmm so you're saying because I throw nothing but changeups down the middle of the plate over and over, that's why I don't see a ridiculous amount of strikeouts???? Wow I never realized that....Did I say that? No. Some are better than others at pitching vs the cpu is all I said. Why is that such a problem to say? Most are better at hitting than I am. Who cares. Re: Too many strikeouts
Then someone please explain why I can play MLB 20, 21, and 22. Pitch using classic interface. Pitch same way I always do and struggle to reach 10 strikeouts. Yet on MLB 23 I can reach 13-19Ks consistently gane after game no matter the pitcher.
Why is that?

Re: Too many strikeouts
I tried it at 10 and while there may be more fouled off that never decreased strikeouts. It only gave me another pitch to get the strikeout lol. The lack of balls put in play by the cpu is the issue. Increasing more foul balls was not helping the cpu put more balls in play.

Re: Too many strikeouts
Well, you replied, so something triggered you to do that. But okay [emoji1787]
I don't call anyone out personally, but since you wanna call me out then I can fire back. You use meter pitching anyway if I'mnot mistaken. My comments aren't even speaking on the way you pitch. I have no clue and no experience to speak on that.

Re: Too many strikeouts
I can't explain it since I don't watch you play or know how you go about your settings. I moved to legend using classic, bumped up the CPU contact and power one notch, and left it there and been getting great results for 5 months after being reluctant to move up. Didn't mess with any other slider. Slideritis is a REAL issue. Have to let the game play a bunch of games before it settles in. I've used classic pitching since 2006 so I doubt my classic pitching skills are the problemThen someone please explain why I can play MLB 20, 21, and 22. Pitch using classic interface. Re: Too many strikeouts
Nobody had a bigger problem than me. I use classic pitching. I’m currently playing on HOF, default sliders, not having a problem and I can’t explain it.I can't explain it since I don't watch you play or know how you go about your settings. I have no idea the variances.
Darthrambo….in all fairness I watched your YouTube games and man you would pause your games quite a bit and jump into settings. I also didn’t see the high number of Ks you talk about. I brought this up way earlier that your games seemed fine.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
Hmm, I don't know then. For me it made it harder to get my pitchers confidence high, which lead to more balls put in play, which lead to more runs.I tried it at 10 and while there may be more fouled off that never decreased strikeouts. It only gave me another pitch to get the strikeout lol. The lack of balls put in play by the cpu is the issue. Increasing more foul balls was not helping the cpu put more balls in play.

Re: Too many strikeouts
I guess my question would be what exactly is the ultimate ramification of this “issue”? I mean strikeouts are just outs, & guys strike out all the f’n time, they’re not a big deal. Some games you get 16 some games you get 3. Are you undefeated or something? Can you lock down the AI and win literally every game because you’re so money at getting Ks, or are we just talking stats here?
I’m 6th in the majors in runs-scored through 115 games-PLAYED in 2024 with 514. I am 30th in the league in runs-allowed with 569. We are 49-66.
Yes, I lead the league in strikeouts with 986. Fun-fact: CIN is 2nd (976) and they are also 29th in runs-allowed. Go figure!
My point is: getting Ks is not a big deal. They’re just outs. Are you getting them when they matter? Are they somehow ruining the experience?
Like I said last time, 120+ hours worth of playing just the 2024 season alone and I’ve dropped 66 f’n games, I’m not apologizing for any of my damn strikeouts.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment
