Edit Players - Potential
What attributes will increase a players potential or is there a specific attribute for potential? I have a few of my top prospects that are rated as a D in potential but I think they need to be at least a C at minimum. Thanks for any pointers or assistance.Tags: None -

There is a specific potential rating. -
Re: Edit Players - Potential
You used to get emails saying when a player was gaining potential, but now I hardly get any emails in franchise and just have to check the roster to see who went up or downComment

Re: Edit Players - Potential
Potential does not increase/decrease often. And when it does it seems completely arbitrary. I’ve had players dominate the minors with no increase. And I’ve had players with middling seasons get a boost. I’ve also had guys go on an extended slump and see no decrease. But I’ve also had guys have a bad few weeks and lose potential. It seems completely random to be honest.

Re: Edit Players - Potential
I am starting to wonder if I should even pay attention the Potential rating, and focus more on how the player actually performs during games. My goal was try to determine which prospects to focus on developing and which ones I would have the most chance of success with. I would figure a B Potential would play better than a D Potential but that probably isn't always the case

Re: Edit Players - Potential
There is so much to potential that it would be hard to cover it all at once.
To keep it simple, think of potential as a players peak rating if they progress.
There are many factors that impact if a player reaches their potential or not, including age, performance, random luck, and other things.
For potential grades, this is the scale:
A is 90 to 99
B is 80 to 89
C is 70 to 79
The above statements are just a very basic overview.Funkycorm

To add to this, high potential players tend to hold their peak longer than the guys that don’t. You bring in a C potential 75-80 overall guy in his 30s be prepared for a sharp decline.

Re: Edit Players - Potential
Good post. I simplified it because I was under the impression his questions was essentially “what makes potential go up”? I.E. someone going from a C to B potential. I am a lot like you. I run multiple test franchise throughout the year studying progression/regression and watching how careers play out. I find it so interesting how there can be so much variance from one season to the next. I probably sim more than I play tbhJUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: Edit Players - Potential
From my observations, it seems like players with very low overalls but high potential B or A have difficulty reaching their potential. Players that start out in at least the 60s overall at age 18 or so tend to reach their potential or get very close to it. It probably helps to keep them in a league they are not overmatched in and able to put up decent stats, but I don't know for sure.Comment

Re: Edit Players - Potential
Curious at why you feel they deserve to be edited to a "c"? Are these prospects you drafted or prospects from real life?

Re: Edit Players - Potential
I am getting ready to start my franchise, so this is for actual real life prospects that are on the current live roster. Almost all of my top 30 prospects are on the roster. 3 of the real-life prospects are rated a D in Potential. I would like them to be a C, but I probably will just play who I want and move them up and down the system based on gameplay.
