CPU hitters not chasing ANYTHING out of the zone

Does 'Plate Discipline' not matter for AI batters this year? They absolutely will NOT offer at anything that's even somewhat close. I'm not saying it's hard to get strikeouts, but I was able to get CPU hitters to chase a good 2-strike changeup in the dirt quite often in years past. Haven't had a single instance on this year's game.

    Is anyone else seeing this?

I'm seriously thinking about not playing anymore until they hopefully fix it with a patch. It's that bad. Just extremely unrealistic.

My experience on the PS4 is that the CPU definitely will chase pitches out of the zone.

I have to bump up my sliders to try and make them MORE discipline. Computer very willingly to chase this year.

On classic pitching the CPU will definitely chase pitches out of the zone unless I keep using the same pattern.

They’re definitely more selective this year but I still get them to chase. They do seem to take a lot more strike threes this year though. I also see a lot of bad swings on fastballs, you would think I threw a change up by looking it how early they are

That's just the thing. They'll constantly swing and miss at fastball right down the middle with 2 strikes, but a sinker 1 inch off the edge of the plate? Take every time.

Not a problem here. The CPU will definitely chase pitches.

They are definitely more selective this year, but IMO that's a good thing. In the past it felt like a slider off the plate was a swing and miss 75% of the time, but this year they'll only chase it if you locate well and set up your pitches

I can attest to that. But the thing that frustrates me the most is you can set your pitches up perfect but they'll never swing at the 2 strike changeup below the knees. Just for S&G later, I'm going to try to juice a pitchers K/9 and changeup attributes all to 99, try a couple of opponent batters discipline at 0, and see what happens. If they still don't chase it out of the zone then, something with this year's game is definitely off.

But doing this…..what does it prove? What affect do these extreme settings “experiment” have on other things?

Keep in mind that the cpu figures out your patterns. If you always throw a 2 strike change up in the dirt, the cpu starts expecting it.

Just like that slider off the plate I swing at. It’s going to throw me another.

Exactly, if they’re not swinging at the change up in the dirt then pound the bottom of the zone with a fastball and catch them looking
