Starting a franchise and I want to leave my options open

If the title is confusing here is what I am asking: I am about to start a MLB23 franchise with my Guardians. I did this last year, but halfway through the season, I wanted to try to update some other teams to add traded players and tweak some other teams players who are having great years...but I was stuck with only being able to control my team. Keep in mind, I do "not" want to control all the other teams full time. I'd just like to be able to jump over to their team, make a few tweaks or trades to get the team in line with real life transactions, and get back to my team.

So....what do I need to do to my franchise, when I am setting it up to accomplish this? I want as much freedom as possible later if needed.

    Thanks.

From an older version of the game and there is some roster specific detail that isn't relevant, but I believe the process is still the same. Just make sure you set the CPU profile to auto for all the things you don't want to manage
    Chicago Cubs
    Michigan Wolverines

    Thanks Peyton. #18

Thanks for the link. I read through it and it is a little complex... but the main thing is, I don't have any idea how to handle these profiles (human, CPU manual and CPU auto). None of this sounds familiar at all. Are there profiles "within" the game that I am unaware of? The only profiles I know of are the PS5 user profiles.

Anyway, I will dig in and see if this applies to The Show23. That tutorial was for The Show 13 and while a lot of things stay the same, year after year, I am not certain this is still in there.

      Thanks again.

Yeah they are taking about the in game profiles in the Settings section. You will want to make 2 profiles (one for your Guardians and another for the rest of the teams)

I am 99% sure the profiles work the same way this year
        Chicago Cubs
        Michigan Wolverines

Re: Starting a franchise and I want to leave my options open

I must be blind because I cannot find anywhere to create multiple profiles. I can select my profile, but I cannot see anywhere to create a second profile. Do I have to create a profile on my My PS5?

Currently I only have one sign on to my PS5 so there are no other profiles to even select within the game. I did start a franchise and I selected all teams, but when I started the season I was stuck on the Baltimore Orioles and for the life of me I couldn't find a way to switch to a different team. I may be willing to control all teams and go through and set the remaining teams beside the guardians to be CPU auto for everything. But I can't even find out how to change teams when I'm in the franchise since it sticks me with the very first team. I don't know why this is so complicated! :-)

Go to the far right with 3 dots. Then hit save as new preset and title it CPU. Then just change things to manual that you want to under mode specific box. Make sure you edit preset name for the profile you have for your Guardians too. And of course select manual for everything in mode specific. I have two profiles named Human and Cpu. Pretty easy to set up and use.

I just started doing the 30 team control this year and the instructions do look a little complex but it’s way easier to set up than it looks and once you’re set up the other 29 teams you’re not controlling don’t require any maintenance except the moves you want to make on your behalf

Here is a YouTube video that shows you how to set it up. It’s from last years game but everything is the same

OK. Once someone pointed out that these were not "user" profiles and basically custom setting inside the franchise that are more in line with style of play, I found it. I created 2 custom plays styles and set mine for primarily manual and the other for auto. I assigned the manual to my team and the rest are assigned "CPU auto" (I custom named it).

The only thing that concerns me is anytime I go into the settings page, it seems to be on simulation. This is no matter what team I have chosen so hopefully that's not what is actually getting applied. When I check under the option to show what profiles are assigned to the teams they all still indicate they are using CPU Auto.

Can anywhere see if this is happening with them? As long as the CPU teams are all handling their rosters and lineups I really don't care.

Also, saving the franchise creates the worlds longest save name as it list every team and then the date now. It used to say "Guardians May 5th, 2023" so it was easy to see. I guess I'm gonna have to custom name it each time for easily finding it now.

Mine always shows my Mets profile no matter which team I’m on but the cpu is still handling their moves. It doesn’t matter which profile is showing, the only thing that matters is which profile is associated with the teams

Good to know! I am 1 game into 162 now. I watched the video and I did notice that you have to set injuries to manual in the CPU profile as well if you want to add players to the Injured list for other teams as they happen. I personally play at a pace that is close to the real life season so I try to have injuries mirror real life to some degree. That's just me.

Right now, I am going to struggle with the Guardians as 2 of my starts are on the IR in real life so I am going to play with some AAA pitchers who aren't ready. In the Show, the drop-off in the abilities of AAA pitchers is significant too!
