    No pitch clock?

Hi everyone, just bought the game. I like it so far. But i dont see the pitch clock and are they still doing shifts? Did they miss the rule changes? Any feedback is appreciated on this topic.

Shifts are adjusted to the new rules. They didn't add a pitch clock and I don't think they will. I doubt video game players are waiting 15+ seconds to throw a pitch and the computer would have to be programmed to be dumb for it to make a difference there. There is not reason to add it.

They did not add the pitch clock. I believe the stated reason was that there is already a pitch clock in online-play (I believe it goes to an auto pitch after 6 seconds or something), and the CPU pitchers already work on an under the hood pitch clock of sorts to that the game keeps moving. Not 100% sure if those were confirmed reasons or just speculation on here, but I think Ramone did address it at some point (maybe the Franchise stream where they talked about CBA rules being added)

As for the shift rules, those are up to date in MLB 23. Teams must have 2 players on either sides of 2B on the infield dirt.

Yeah makes sense. Appreciate the input. Maybe i was looking for too much authenticity, lol

No need for a pitch clock. FWIW, I hate the pitch clock IRL. The only reason they implemented it was to get more casual fans who don't fully understand baseball to buy tickets. No other reason than that to speed baseball up. For this game, just put the pitch delay setting to 'Faster'.

I do wish they added the disengagement rule, although that would be complex. Even if it was max 2 throw overs that would be cool.

Not to start a whole debate, but I'm a 40 year old baseball fan and I love the pitch clock. It may be speeding up the games a tad too much but there's no reason a baseball game needs to go 3 and half hours long. The last time I took my kids to a game it was an over 4 hour game and they were ready getting restless after 2.

Also, catering to casual baseball fans isn't a bad thing. MLB needs casual fans to come to games as well. Especially younger, casual fans.

You're not wrong but they need to ignore it in big, possible game changing situations. Everyone will be pissed when, not IF, it ends and decides a game in the worst way possible. They need to add warnings before immediate penalties.

It would be cool to add it just for immersion. At least have a countdown clock on screen. We're always going to have the ability to hit pause for managerial moves, but still.

Baseball has always been about 27 outs and not time. Just my thoughts

It’s still 9 innings, but the pitch clock is making the game like it was when I was a kid watching the Cardinals at Sportsman’s Park. Pitchers when they got the ball didn’t take long to throw and the batters didn’t adjust their gloves, look at the label on their bat, stare into the crowd. I know tv commercials slow it down as well.
I actually like the clock pushing the tempo back to where it used to be.

This has been my feelings on the pitch clock. Over the years players just kept dragging the game out farther and farther longer and longer, with stepping off the mound and walking around the batters box after every pitch constantly.

Games were MUCH faster when I was young. Baseball is my favorite game and I don't have any problem with the pitch clock.

Seems like having it added to the Show wouldn't be worth it though since they probably already know that players tend to pitch within 5 seconds or so anyway.

Watching Indians games were BRUTAL back in the day, you had games that were moving at a nice clip, that was until Mike Hargrove came to the plate...you might as well make a sandwich and take a leak while he did his antics at the plate..
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

I think if they did that they'd have to change the game's leadoff system, because as it stands right now it'd be far too easy to bait the AI into using its two throws and then taking off the first chance you get when it can't throw over anymore (at least without risk of giving up a free base without a play).

                            So, yeah....definitely complex.

I don't hate the pitch clock as much as I thought I would, although it's definitely going to rub me the wrong way if a game gets decided by it.

My thoughts too. Baseball has gone back to the pace it was when I first started watching as a kid.
