    Balks on or off?

Hello all, I have a question about balks. I see that the default setting is off. I remember a post from the early days of the show that explained why it was beneficial to not have the setting on. I am asking the following questions

    1. why this is recommended to be left off.
2,. Does anyone play offline franchise with it in on?
3- if so how many times per game is it called? I suspect that is a part of the reason for it being off.

I’m currently 67 games into my Yankees Franchise and I’m having a great time with the settings and sliders that I use despite the pitching being too easy on veteran and too hard on all star. I decided to turn balks on for a test. I’m 3 innings into my first game at the Mets and I’ve been called for a balk already

I’m very interested in reading the opinions of the community on this topic.
And yes I tried to use the search feature but i wasn’t allowed to access it for some reason.
Thanks in advance for any information that you can provide that is helpful for me to use.

    Re: Balks on or off?

I turn them off, I’m way to impatient when I get frustrated. If I get stuck in an at bat where the batter is fouling everything off I start firing pitches in as quickly as I can, I don’t have the patience to come to a complete stop before I throw my pitch

CPU will never get called for it - it isn't programmed to. That is reason enough for me to not use it.

Was the CPU ever called for balks? Even in previous generations versions? For some reason I thought they were but I just played a bunch of OOTP and maybe was thinking of that.

I don’t recall the CPU ever being called for a balk in the Show

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

You’re probably right. It probably happened in an OOTP game, or I just am imagining things.

If you ever played High Heat, you could be thinking of that. It's the only game I know of where it was possible for the CPU to balk - by random (very small by default) chance on a pickoff. It's in the tune file.

MVP had them when you threw to an unoccupied base with runner(s) on, but similar to The Show's balks the CPU could never commit that.

I think you're right. I played a ton of HH back in the day.
