    Turn pitcher confidence setting off?

Is this possible? I'm still attempting to get strikeouts under control with no luck, unfortunately. I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it's possible. I'd like to turn off the entire pitcher confidence playing any factor in how well I can locate pitches and pitch effectively overall.

I definitely can say 100% once I get confidence at ~75% or above, that's when pitching becomes way too easy, and strikeouts start coming in bunches. My theory is if I can turn this feature completely off then the game will rely more on player attributes and my own skill level to a degree. Rather than it seemingly give some sort of crazy control boost when confidence meter reaches a certain point.

You can turn off the UI elements for pitch confidence and energy with an option in the Display section of the Settings menu. But that will not turn off the system - it's evident because for example with Meter you'll still get the larger accuracy zone when overall confidence is at or near full.

There's no way to completely turn it off. I agree that pitching becomes much easier at high confidence levels, and that is why I feel the game needs to be tuned, through difficulty, sliders, or the ratings of the team you're playing as, to be challenging enough that you'll give up some hits even with it around full. That means that pitching with mid-confidence should really be something of a mixed bag where performance can go either way from there, and if it's really low they should be so ineffective that pulling them out of the game warrants consideration (though usually low confidence means the pitcher has given up a lot of hits/runs, meaning that an early hook is usually the right call anyway). Energy plays into that too as high confidence can delay the onset of the penalties a pitcher receives when he's tired (when their energy bar goes yellow/red, basically) I'm not going into setting/slider specifics - it's different for everyone as to how they might achieve that. It's just a rough guideline for how I try to "beat" the effect of confidence.

Okay no problem. Would be nice to have option to completely turn off the feature. I just want my ratings to matter 100% of the time. Obviously energy level is fine to have, and when low their effectiveness decreases. But the whole pitcher confidence thing is very silly the more I think about it. I do like individual pitches having separate confidence measures. But the overall confidence meter is too much. Offensive players should have a confidence meter as well vs the pitcher to combat it at least.

I think you’re only shot to alter the pitch confidence engine within is to lower HUM Pitcher Consistency.

Yeah I always lower these to 2-3 already. It's all good. Was just a last ditch effort to fix the high strikeout problem I have.

I'm fine with pitch confidence mattering. The bad thing is it's way too easy to get confidence high. If you have a 1-2-3 first inning with a strike out or two, then confidence is almost maxed out and it's game over. It should take several innings to get confidence high, even if you're pitching well

My problem with that is the aces.

You think Randy Johnson ever stepped on the mound and thought he was going to get rocked?

Maddux, Rocket, Pedro, Sandman, Scherzer, Verlander, Halladay...

.. this is a problem in all sports games though. Too much fluff, and in alot of cases, we don't really know how the ratings and superficial trash relate to eachother.

Re: Turn pitcher confidence setting off?

So I've recently dove back into slider hell trying to find a good balance, and I've actually found one that's really fun. Reduces strike outs for relievers and back of the rotation guys, and still get a realistic amount with my top starters.

                HOF meter pitching
User pitcher control down 1 tick
                CPU contact up 1 tick
                CPU timing up 1 tick
CPU foul frequency up 1 tick
                Everything else at default

Upping foul frequency seems to have made all the difference for me. Really makes it feel like some of the older games. At least in my experience.
