    Playoff pitching rotation

I made the playoffs for my first time in MLB the Show. I have a question with pitching rotations.

I made the wild card, and won in 3 games. Im now in the Divisional against the Astros, and I noticed that my 4th pitcher is scheduled to start, but the Astros have their number 1 starting.

Does the CPU automatically use a 3 man rotation in playoffs?

Do I have to set that up manually for myself?

In your scenario, Houston had a bye in the wild card round so their rotation should be rested.

So in game 4 and 5, the CPU would also use their 4th and 5th pitcher in the lineup?

They will likely use #4 in game 4 but they may revert back to #1 starter for game 5 in best of 5 series. Just depends

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Thank you! I did some simming just to test how the CPU would rotate, and they definitely reorganize their depth chart to use there top pitchers in the playoffs. I think they skip their 5th man.

I'm not seeing them use their best rested starter, especially in elimination games.

This why 30 team control is a must in this game. Especially when you can turn everything on auto for the CPU besides lineups and rotations.

This can be a completely reasonable approach depending on the specific circumstances. In an elimination game, one might prefer to get 4-5 innings out of a better pitcher (and then go to the pen - especially if it is pretty well-rested) vs hoping to get 6-7 innings out of a worse pitcher (even if he is more rested).

I HAVE seen an opponent use a more rested (non-number 5) starter in an elimination game when that starter was super solid. I think there are a number of ways to skin the cat come playoff time.

Put differently, I've been in a fair number of playoff series over the last two versions of the game and I've never once questioned their selection of a starter for a playoff series or elimination game.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.
