Weird attendance
Why in franchise attendance doubles in the 8th inning if the game is close. For example, the rays are having an awful Sean attendance throughout the game was 8,000 it looked empty, but in the 8th it doubled to 16,000 because they were Winn 2-1. WTF?Tags: None -

Re: Weird attendance
There is no rhyme or reason to attendance figures. I’ve drawn bigger crowds on a Thursday afternoon than on clear Friday night and the Friday night game was against a division rival I was in a tight division race withComment

Re: Weird attendance
They should really just give us five options for this that we can just set like the weather ..
1 Small
2 Decent
3 Nice
4 Big
5 Sellout
I got clobbered in a home game the other day and my crowd all left, as they do, and it was just so rare and beautiful-looking. Really a lot more games should look like that the whole game, especially early-season games in poor weather.
Tigers attendance to start the year is very consistent: sell-out opening day, big crowd (depending on weather) for game 2, nice crowd for game three (depending on weather and day of the week), then it falls off a cliff where small or decent crowds are all they get until the weather starts getting nice (usually in mid-to-late May) at which point nice crowds start emerging.
Varies from team to team of course, but I think most of you know the dynamic I’m talking about and it’s not reflected by the game at all. Yeah it’s cute that there’s *some* dynamics in play, but I’d rather just be given the five options above.Last edited by Detroit Tigers; 09-02-2023, 02:37 PM.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

Re: Weird attendance
What attendance doubled?
The game log attendance doubled in regards to pop up? The physical bodies in stands?
I’ve never noticed attendance doubling in the later innings

Re: Weird attendance
I’ve always notice that the crowd gets smaller if the home teams is losing by a bunch. Never seen crowds increasing as the games go on..

Re: Weird attendance
I think the other 8,000 people were stuck in traffic...you know how downtown Detroit is
They just finally made it to the park to catch the last few innings.
Just a thought 🤔I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night.
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark I hear your screams

Re: Weird attendance
I think what’s weird is I am playing as the Phillies. We are the 3rd Wildcard team right now. Braves in town who are in first.
So many empty seats. It doesn’t make any sense. I’m not sure what they use to determine attendance but it’s not right.

Re: Weird attendance
Just played game 162 of the season. In New York. Phillies(me) vs Mets. I had a 1 game lead for the wildcard. If Mets win we are tied for final wildcard spot. Verlander on Mound for Mets vs Bailey Falter.
Beyond the fact that there was no mention of this deciding the wildcard during the game it was also not sold out. It was a decent crowd but still plenty of noticeable empty seats and a bunch behind the plate. I would have expected a sellout.
On another note I did win the game to clinch the final playoff spot and there was no recognition. Normal after a win celebration. Kind of a letdown.
