Re: How will they handle Ohtani for 2024?

Giving users the ability to edit a player's 2-way status (both in the main menu roster editing and via player editing in franchise mode) and to be able to change a primary position across both pitching slots and fielder slots would make the most sense. Then people can do whatever they want.

if he goes to LR the CPU will use him 100% of the time as soon as a starter can't pitch 5 innings and the CPU will do it EVEYTIME guaranteed. better off having him as a setup guy cpu will hardly touch him then unless it is the 8th innings with a 1 run lead.

Would they still use him in games where he's in the starting lineup as a DH though? The poster you quoted was saying CPU won't use him as a pitcher in the games where he's in the starting lineup.

How will Sony handle his durability? I could be misremembering but the last update I *THINK* his durability was still in the 90's. If his Show 24 durability is still too high for my taste, I'll probably wind up rerating him at 59 durability.

He won't be any different. They have never taken injuries into account like that.

That’s only if he is in the starting rotation I believe. Didn’t they fix that rule anyway in this years game to allow that?? He did say exhibition games too so have to test it in franchise

That’s what I’m thinking. Wasn’t Bryce Harper still a RF on the 23 default roster?

I'm honestly not sure as I haven't tried, but I would think that if he's in the starting lineup in the game, he won't show up as an option to put in the game out of the bullpen so the CPU would never actually use him. If he's not in the lineup as a hitter (presumably resting) then his energy will be low enough that the CPU may be less likely to use him

Yeah not sure about that one the cpu will always go to the LR if the starter doesn’t make it through 5, it’s a frustrating bp issue for years and at its worst now because starters don’t go as long as they used to

I agree with others. I don’t think he’ll be any different than 23. This game has never made any changes due to injuries.

They moved him to 1B on 8/31.

In 2020 they stopped Ohtani being a pitcher actually because of injury turned him
                          Into position player only.

The Dodgers have too much money riding on Shohei. I wouldn't be surprised if they never let him pitch again. Maybe he becomes a full-time LF'er.

The fact that they have so much money riding on him is exactly why they want him to pitch again....

This. Him being able to pitch and hit is why they sank so much money in him to begin with. They wouldn’t have dropped that kind of money on a DH.
