    Looking to vent…

I’ve been considering posting something like this for quite some time now. I’ve always found the information and members of this site to be extremely helpful. It’s humbling to have to post something like this.

I’ll start out by saying that I have played this game since 2006. Haven’t missed a year except 2021 when I had to get rid of my PlayStation. I always thought of myself as a decent player but knew that I was far from great. I’d play the whole 162 games every year in franchise. Sometimes I’d do well in the playoffs sometimes not. If I didn’t make it to October I was USUALLY in the hunt. In 2019 I was playing on HOF made it to the NLCS and lost which was perfectly fine with me. In 2020 I won the world series and pretty much over achieved all season but had a blast. And then something happened. I don’t know what it is. It’s hard for me to explain. But I don’t know for the life of me what I’m doing anymore lol. I’ve played on HOF for several seasons but for the most part I’ve played on all star since 2006. This year I had every intention of playing on just all star default and rolling with it. I found out almost instantly that it was not going to work for me and the experience I was looking for. I would absolutely dominate pitching wise in a way I’ve never done before. So I thought I’d try all star +. I ended up playing the entire season on it trying to find something that closely resembles baseball. I think I lead the league in nearly every pitching category and my offense was average at best. I basically gave up trying to find anything that could create more offense for the user and computer and just said screw it and ran with it for the next three months. It was terrible. A high scoring game would be a total of nine runs for both teams. I went to the playoffs made to the World Series was ahead three games to none and didn’t even finish. Even against playoff teams I couldn’t get the cpu to score more than four runs. Same for the user. You might be saying “Why don’t you just hit on all star and pitch on HOF” trust me I tried that. The computer didn’t score anymore and my offense somehow went through the roof most games just from going down half a level. What I can’t seem to understand is why on default pitch speed I persistently am early on LITERALLY everything but if I so much as go to say six or seven pitch speed I can’t pull anything facing the same side pitcher. Then I thought it was a hitting camera aspect and would switch between retro and the show 15. Didn’t see any difference there. Then I thought just maybe simple adjustments like adjusting pitch speed and contact would make enough of a difference. Nothing. I can’t hit to save my life and that was never ever a problem for me before a few years ago. I’ve struggled to get any offense from the computer for at least two years. I remember thinking maybe I should hit on veteran and pitch on legend……and meaning it lol.

Then my wife purchased a PS5 for me on Christmas. I felt obligated to keep playing the game. Even though and it sounds kind of ridiculous it’s been essentially three years of this searching for the secret to make this game play the way it used to. Is it the game? Is it me? Is it the level, settings, slider’s etc. it’s probably a combination of all the above. I always looked forward to the slider content users provided on this site. In the beginning it was psychbulk. Then guys like Armor and JoshC. Funckcorm, Rmiok, and Mike Lowe have been helpful. Maybe I’m just not good anymore lol. I don’t know what to do. I will say this though I’ve reached out to a handful of people on this site over the last year and they have all been extremely helpful and kind when providing information. I’ve always thought that of this community even 15 years later. I’ve always loved this series always loved the game of baseball and I would certainly hate to not be able to continue to play this series again due to no longer playing games but instead of trying to figure out how to make the game play. That’s enough from me. Thanks guys.

    1) what type of pitching do you use?

    2) do you constantly tweak sliders?

I’m purely a classic pitching guy. Constantly? No. Do I change them to reflect what I’m seeing yes. I also will use sets on the site that reflect the level or settings that match mine.

Okay, great. It took me a while to settle in, but once I did, I haven't changed anything since late spring and it's been working great. Like you, I never had any issues prior to '23.

I use classic pitching on legend with cpu contact and power up to 6.

All star + hitting , default sliders.

Took me a long time to move up to legend because I never went that high before.

It's just an idea, so hopefully you can get some help from this group. Josh and Armor and the rest of those guys are all great guys with a lot of knowledge but this setting works great for my hitting and pitching. Some games my pitcher gets flat out shelled.

I did finally find my sweet spot with pitching, but it was a very frustrating road to get there. I almost shelved the game numerous times in the process. They really did mess pitching up in 23. I’m hoping they fix it for 24, but considering it worked as designed I’m afraid they might not.

Yeah same, eventually found the sweet spot. Now watch me have to find it again in '24 LOL.

I at first said I was skipping this one, but who am I kidding. Buying this game is like a yearly holiday for me. So I know I’ll be getting it. So yea I’m dreading trying to find it again. I’m going to start out with the same sliders I had for 23 and go from there I guess.

A few months ago I finally got my settings dialed in. Now it's almost time for it to release again. I may not purchase this year, but like another poster said who am I'm kidding. I will watch all the streams and get hyped to buy it.
