How to make franchise fun again

    Hey guys,
So I've been playing the same franchise with carry overs since 2016 and I think its time I moved on. Only thing is I'm having trouble finding ways to make it exciting for me.

I don't follow baseball like I did in the 90s and 2000s when baseball was a top sport. So I don't really know a lot of players even on my beloved Red Sox but I really want to be immersed and be excited for the games.

Are there any ideas or rosters that I could try out?

    BTW I'm playing MLB 20

    Thanks guys!

Do you happen to have Bacon's Fictional Roster saved for 20? I don't follow baseball like I used to, but I still love the Show and part of that is because of Bacon's roster. Its added new life to franchise for me.

If you don't have that roster saved on 20 you could still download it on 21.

While Bacon's roster isn't available on 22 there are a couple of good fictionals. Sherman's Ricky Davis roster is one I am running a franchise with that's fun.

Sluggbug has a great roster made up almost entirely of young players. It's a perfect roster to do a rebrand franchise with and treat as it's own baseball league.

I haven't spent a ton of time with 23. I'm in the process of giving it a second chance. Haven't found anything yet.

Sounds to me like you're not a classic roster guy.

With that being said.....you really owe it to yourself to play a Bacons Franchise. It's a great and arguably the best fictional roster ever made for any sports game.

You can go with how the teams are or do a fantasy draft.

If you employ 30 team control then a fantasy draft is probably out of the question.

The 2022 roster from Canadeion is fantastic. You can't go wrong with starting a fresh franchise with that one.

If you have any classic rosters saved. That would be my suggestion.

Love all the rosters but just started Boston's sensational 70s.

I have the 80s version of Longballs and legends saved. I might try that one out.

What are some ways you get the immersion effect from Bacons Fictional Rosters?

Honestly just playing with the roster.

It's a very well thought out roster with a huge variety of players. There are all kinds of players. Lots of platoon guys, or players who are good at certain things but not others.

I am running a fantasy draft franchise on 20 with the roster. I had a good (84 or so rated) 2B who got injured and missed 40 to 50 games or so. I brought up a D rated minor leaguer to fill in for him. That player was a 67 overall. Had a 70+ contact rating against right handed hitters, but a 40 contact versus lefties. Decent defense. Little power. It was super fun watching this light hitting infielder hit over .300 filling in and hold down the fort for my star. I had a similar scenario with an injured OFer.

The teams are also designed so that some are dominant, some are competitive, some are middling, and some are pure rebuilds. Farm systems are varied with some being stacked and others not. Off the top of my head you also have a team like the Braves who are a roster of aging players who could likely make one more run at a World Series before having to tear it all down and rebuild.

Its just a very well thought out roster with varied player types and varied teams. And there are a lot of fun throwback names of players like King Hitter and Junior Rodriguez.

There's no better way to get into a Bacon franchise than to just dive in. Take a look at the rosters of different teams and their farm system and their teams and just play. Half the fun is learning the players and the league.

                          Apples and oranges.

If you want real players use the 2022 roster you have and run a fantasy draft and build your initial team and farm system and you will have a feeling of true ownership.

But I will say you are missing out not running a Bacon franchise. It's really a one of kind experience.
