    Database of last names

Presumably SDS will add back many more of the last names lost in the switch to a new announcer team. I understand that it is not reasonable to try and replace all the names in one year.

However, I have noticed that there seem to be many last names which the announcing team uses for current players which are not in the database. I would think that these names could also be added without additional effort from the announcing team simply by an employee working with the audio files.

I wish they would let you put the first name entry into the last name. If you only put in a last name, they still say the name. If you only enter a first name, they announce them by number/pisition.

This is what I have found when comparing MLBTS21 to 25:

            MLBTS21 - First names 92x14=1288
            25 - First names 114x14=1596

            MLBTS21 - Last names 360x14=5040
            25 - Last names 217x14=3038

            MLBTS21 total - 1288+5040=6238
            25 total - 1596+3038=4634
            Each minus one for >none<.

In calculating the number of last names, one has to delete 1 for none and also adjust for the last page not being the full 14.

MLB 25 has 3028 last names. MLB 21 had 5030. However, we were already at 2940 with MLB 24, so only 88 names were added this time. This is by far the lowest number of any year.

I stopped playing RTTS when my last name was lost in the change of announcer team. My last name had been in the game going back to MLB 11. It has never returned. Having Face Scan does not change this.

              My question is this:

What is more likely to get more people playing RTTS?

              a. Adding a few high school and college games, or
              b. Adding a lot more last names sound files to name database.

SDS seems to have chosen "a".

I knew about first page selection with >none< but completely forgot that last page may not have fourteen names. Thanks.
