Was a huge Tony Gwynn fan growing up and moved to LA 2 years ago. So my fandom for Gwynn, moving to SoCal and my hate for the Dodgers and Giants made following the Padres easy. To say it's renewed my passion for the sport is an understatement. Yes they cut payroll but it still breaks 100 mil which I've never seen in my lifetime by Oakland.
Sports should be fun, if supporting one team isn't fun I think it's OK to switch. If ownership doesn't care, why should we?
I switched 3 years ago, and became a Jay's fan.

I'm Canadian, not 100%, but enough to be damn proud of it. See as I didn't have a favorite Canadian team in any sport, I thought what the hay. Helped I was a HUGE Dante Bichette fan as a kid, so having his son (for now) as a Jay is icing on the cake.

I even flew back home to Denver this past September to watch the Rockies and Jay's play. Felt weird as those were my old stomping grounds, but the fans that traveled from Canada were something else. Made me love baseball all over again.20230903_130056.jpeg20230903_122826.jpeg

It is extremely funny that a massively incompetent franchise is what cured your "this is not realistic" concerns. This is a great post. I think I will have to feature it on the front page tomorrow.

Re: Franchise Mode and Realism Issues Cured by The Rockies.....?

Rockies have been my dream team for a few years tbh. I always stutter around as well.. I’m an over-thinker and it kills my pursuit of long, drawn out franchises (something I want to do quite badly) and we just have to allow ourselves to be happy within the realms of possibility. We don’t need to recreate real life, just resemble it.

I’m a stat/ number guy so when Mike Trout had a 36% strike out rate compared to his 25% in real life, I would get frustrated… this year, I’m picking a team and playing (once sliders and all that is figured out).

Best of luck, you’re not alone… many of us struggle with this. I can’t wait to hear more about the Rockies!

So your cure for unrealistic Ai is to just accept it? lol

Now the cpu does not use the second setup man and runs their LRP twice as much as they should. They put their fastest hitter in the leadoff spot regardless of their hitting acumen. This isn't "my universe" lol This is the weird unrealistic universe SDS has forced me to exist in for the last 7 years . It isn't "my universe" where teams trade their top prospects for aging role players and bullpen arms.

Hopefully SDS can update logic and give me some semblance of realistic team management where I can accept it as "my universe".

If you really want to get crazy with your franchise.

Set everything to auto for the user profile (except lineups/rotations, call ups and send downs)

Let the cpu act as your GM.

Did you read the thread? It had nothing to do with the AI and everything to do with my own issues in keeping my free agent signings and roster realistic FOR MY TEAM.
Think you just wanted a reason to complain. I understand frustrations with games but given the current landscape of sports gaming you could say this about any of them. At the end of the day games should be fun. If you're not having fun, don't spend the cash and don't bother playing or find a version that you do enjoy.

Who forced you to play a video game? You probably should call law enforcement with that one.

Sony does give you this tool, 30 team control, where you can control team management. It's not for me personally, but it is there to control trades that doesn't fit people's idea of what is acceptable. My universe, I want teams making trades that I wouldn't make, same way they do IRL. My universe is my team. The other 29 teams are 29 other separate universes that I have to compete with.

I did this once when playing every game of the season as a minor league team. I was their manager so the only thing I was allowed to do was edit my own lineup. I had to run with the guys the big club sent me. It’s certainly a fun change up.

Id prefer to play in a more modern universe where for the last 7 years, teams don't still set their lineup using logic that was coded in 2015. Am I wrong for wanting a universe where the teams don't use the same bullpen pattern they have for the past 8 years in the game.

And yea, they kinda forced me too when they signed the exclusive deal.
