The bad thing is it will pale in comparison to the ****storm after release. Some of those same people who are already complaining will still buy, then feign indignationthis wasnt what they paid for. Might as well start warming up the popcorn maker.

That's a good point. I look forward to the productive/constructive game discussions after its release.

I stopped playing Madden 2 years ago because I stopped liking it. I don't go on those boards daily to scream about how much I don't like it. I just don't go there anymore.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Feature Premiere Tomorrow - Storylines: Derek Jeter

Look, am I frustrated at the lack of info compared the standard SSDS had created for us in the past with this year's stream, of course. I wasn't excited to see that this one "appears" to be just about the Jeter Storelines mode.

But I also will give it more time to play itself out. Maybe today's stream will have more info than what has been announced. I know I won't be rushing to watching, much like last week's due to the fact it isn't a mode I'll play much.

Maybe after the last couple of years my expectations have been lowered but I truly loved last year's game. I'm hoping they keep expanding on that.

Do I want them to drop last gen and give us improved graphics? Yes. But that's not the direction they've taken this year so I already expected the graphics to not make a huge jump.

Am I a little concerned because of the lack of information and even the lack of a true trailer? Of course, but I'm not ready to start the doom and gloom just yet. I remember complains about last year's stream too and for me personally the game turned out great.

I still haven't preordered it but I plan on owning it because I still enjoy it. I do hope they finally decide to take a true next gen jump soon but for whatever reason (I'm assuming because it is still selling relatively well on PS4, XBox One they aren't ready to abandon those systems yet. Money is what drives decisions like these. I get that.

I guess I'm just less "outraged" and more in "wait and see" mode at the moment.

I am not one to cut Sds any slack or give any grace due to them having a “hard” job. Why? Because as a consumer they charge me $69.99 regardless.

With that being said, I am confused with how much ppl are railing against the reveal schedule as if they know the game has zero improvements. I’d like to know more about the game at this point but it really doesnt mean anything if the game releases with a bunch of new improvements.

We are not entitled to gameplay a certain amount of days before release. If they arent giving you the info you want… just wait to preorder until they do.

The only time I was truly upset with the game was MLB 21. They stripped away Y2Y, SOTS for next gen, completely changed the check swing RNG to a twitch skill......design decisions that were really bad.....22 was a step in the right direction but fell short....23 is a magnificent baseball game and I was a year late because of how much fun I was still having with MLB 20

I think people expectations are so high these days.....and I simply love playing baseball and no console sports game emulates their respective sport better than MLB The Show.....period.

And everything is about how you approach how you play. I can't convince people how to play their franchise......but I have been doing it since 2009 playing every pitch of every inning and I am in heaven every year.

Hell I loved 20 so much we played it for 4 straight years.

Now? I can easily enjoy 23 for at least several years.

            Different strokes for different folks.

But also something that no one really talks about is how much of a set back this current console cycle has been. There are far more people still on their PS4 vs PS5 etc etc I mean a crazy amount. SDS is not abandoning all those players and dollars.....thats not good business.

So I will just keep enjoying 23 for a few more years.....I don't have to have the newest version anymore.

MLB 20 proved that to me. I can be joyful, happy and content playing a great game and being immersed in my franchise universe for years and years without stressing and wasting my precious energy worrying about a Derek Jeter Storyline premier.

Again different strokes for different folks.

            Baseball is back.

            Life is amazing.

Have fun with it guys.....just play man.

I have nothing but respect for your opinion and work on sliders, etc for multiple sports games. I honestly mean that.

However, you have said the same thing in the past about Madden and the Show...about not getting the next iteration and being satisfied to play a previous iteration for the next year or more. This rarely plays out that way as you eventually do upgrade for a variety of reasons...all valid. It's your time, money, and recreational activity. You have the right to change your mind as the year(s) go on.

It might be premature to make a no buy statement, no?

Exactly what I have done in regard to Madden. I already have said my piece on what I think it needs. But the last 3 versions I have played less and less and less.

I focus my energy on what I love to play.

                Oh hey....I don't disagree.

I most likely will pick up 24 at some point. But I have zero reason to on release because I literally have been playing 23 for just 6 weeks now. I am immersed in 23 and my franchise.

I will look for it when the price drops around the holidays.

But yeah.....no ultimate decision has been made at all on 24. Just the decision to not jump in for a while.

And that's only due to how invested I am in 23 and I was very late to the party.

We are 2 1/2 weeks from the launch date and this is the feature premiere? Seriously?

The first 2 premieres are modes that people barely play. I truly don't understand the marketing SDS is doing this year. Baffling.

I'm someone who hates CAP's. So just the new face scans and new equipment make the new edition a must buy for me. So it's a lot harder for some of us to just simply play MLB 21 for 5 years straight.

I really just want the $69.99 worth of improvements year over year lol

Also, for us franchise folks, I think we are in good shape for improvements with TABarnes and Ridin on board at SDS.

Tbh, if they were to fix something important to us like bullpen logic, it may not even be something that is significant enough to the masses to make it into a feature reveal.

There's no way they can fill an entire hour only talking about Jeter and his 9 or so Moments, right? Right?

Who really knows. I didn’t think they’d dedicate another stream to storylines, but here we are.

Anyway, I just came here to ask if anyone was actually planning on watching today?

Immensely disappointed that we won't get an *ACTUAL* feature premiere until 8-12 days before the game is released (pre-order vs non). These two Storyline features could have been combined into one video. Unless they blow us away with playing through Jeter's whole career in a MTO-style format, this is looking like a set of Moments that can be completed in 30 or so minutes. Doesn't seem like it's that big of a "feature" to have it's own video, but hey, who am I to say.

The first feature premiere is set for March 7th, and that's no guarantee to be anything substantial. Lets hope we get a trailer between now and then...

I second that. I do marketing/comms for a living and I don't understand the strategy.

                              But I digress.

I think we should just stop pre-ordering these games. I'll probably buy 24, I'm not gonna pretend like I won't. I've bought it every year for a decade, and my team puts out a roster every year for the game.

But I have a 23 franchise that I can easily go back to.

                              I'll wait for a sale.

It's hard to get excited by the way they're marketing this game. The lack of information is concerning. I didn't even bother tuning into the stream last week. I guess I'll tune in this week?

I just feel so...I feel like SDS doesn't care about what we care about on these forums anymore. I'm sure a dev or two does. But from a marketing standpoint, all that has mattered for a while is the gimmick modes.

I just want to hear about the core improvements at this point. I don't need the flashy bells and whistles. Derek Jeter? I love Derek Jeter. I'm a Yankee fan. But I don't care about this storylines thing. I won't play it.

Just tell me that lineup logic isn't stuck in the early 2000s and bullpen logic works better. We don't even have openers in this game and teams have been using openers for what, 4 or 5 years now? Tell me how you improved on last year's draft improvements. Tell me how gameplay and presentation are even better.

Because 23 was a great game. This is still a great series. But It's like they don't want to show it. And I don't understand why.

Who remembers the good days of cover athlete in November, trailer in December, straight gameplay at CES in January, and a page of bullet point features (fact sheet) to go along with the promoted features.

Decisions may be getting made outside of SCEA’s control, but whatever the reason they are a shell of what they used to be.
