Re: Players Can Create and Play as a Female Ballplayer in MLB The Show 24 Road to the
There are hundreds of major leaguers that can't do that either, and yet they are still major leaguers. Just because something hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it can't at some point. 10 years ago the idea that a single player could be both an elite starting pitcher and a middle-of-the-order everyday hitter would get you laughed at, and yet here we are.
The thing is, if it is ever going to happen, inclusion like this is important because it gets more women interested in baseball. And the more women that are interested in baseball, the more likely it is that incredible female athletes will pursue it. And the larger the pool of talent that pursues it, the more likely some one might be the one to prove everyone wrong.Comment

100%. The existence of the WNBA in 2K is probably the biggest driver of me paying closer attention and watching more games. There are hundreds of major leaguers that can't do that either, and yet they are still major leaguers. I love how people who have issues with this are trying to use that bias to speak for the broader audience at large. This won't turn away a single player, but stands to help them gain a bunch more.Comment

Re: Players Can Create and Play as a Female Ballplayer in MLB The Show 24 Road to the
25 years ago Lisa Leslie did a simple one handed, rim scraper dunk to become the first women to “dunk” in a pro game. 25 years later the women that can “dunk” are still doing the same basic dunk. I think your “10 year” estimation may be a little generousThere are hundreds of major leaguers that can't do that either, and yet they are still major leaguers. You think the people clamoring for a women’s story mode is larger than the fan base who have been asking for substantial franchise mode improvements for the last 7 years???100%. The existence of the WNBA in 2K is probably the biggest driver of me paying closer attention and watching more games.

I’d love to see the data you based this opinion on lolComment

Good thing we're talking about a video game where difficult and impossible things can happen all you want.Comment

Because dunking is apparently the only useful skill in basketball.Comment

Re: Players Can Create and Play as a Female Ballplayer in MLB The Show 24 Road to the
No, it’s not. But we’re talking about a league that loses millions of dollars a year because nobody is watching it. So “useful”, and “entertaining” would appear to be mutually exclusive.Comment

If it's been the past 7 years, then adding women's storyline this year isn't the reason we aren't getting major franchise improvements.Comment

Re: Players Can Create and Play as a Female Ballplayer in MLB The Show 24 Road to the
Based on trophies only 1 in 10 players even get so far in franchise as making a draft pick. If you want to talk about relative sizes of parts of the fanbase, that doesn’t make the case SDS should be particularly focused on franchise mode.Comment

It's quite possible that the amount of people asking for franchise improvements is not very large. Just because you are "loud", does not mean you are "many."
There are also people like me who would like to see improvements with the CPU roster/bullpen management....but overall am fine with franchise as it is.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

That's why they never should have taken out "Season Mode" which was a more streamlined version of franchise. It's quite possible that the amount of people asking for franchise improvements is not very large. Just because you are "loud", does not mean you are "many."

MLB is the BEST game to have an owner mode. Where we actually have to make profit as a team. Do promotions, make trades and signings based off that budget, and actually have the budget fluctuate from year to year. Maybe I go over the tax threshold with the Cubs, and miss the playoffs and my budget is slashed by 20mill for underperforming. Stuff like that.
Of all the big sports, it makes the MOST sense to have It in MLB. Many people want to run an organization and do all of those things. We want international free agents posted, we want deeper minor leagues and Owner goals, I want to set ticket prices and see fan reactions to certain moves. I want to be able to do an expansion mode where I create my own stadium and team and have to do an actual expansion roster and try to make my team profitable.Comment

But in all fairness, not everyone wants all of that, but still wants franchise mode. That's why they never should have taken out "Season Mode" which was a more streamlined version of franchise.

Re: Players Can Create and Play as a Female Ballplayer in MLB The Show 24 Road to the
I'm going to ignore all the chest thumping in this post to just say that not a single one of us, regardless of how long we have been purchasing this title, are entitled to special consideration no matter how much we wish that it was so. It would be nice, for sure, but it is not a given.
If this is the 15th time that I have purchased the game, I expect I'll have the same importance to SDS as someone who is purchasing it for the very first time. To believe otherwise is just a fast lane to frustration and disappointment.Comment
