yeah i think thats fair. Franchise didnt really get any updates. Player cards now have another tab with the players awards on them. Oh and you can start a franchise with real life injuries (fail to see how this is any different than just selecting live rosters when starting a new franchise....)

oh and they said they have plans. a lotta plans for 5-10 years down the road and are mapping it but gave no details.

I like the new presenation elements, although I was hoping for a 3rd big league theme and got excited when they mentioned they had 8 this year, but that balloon was quickly deflated when the two major league themes were the same and found out the other 6 are 5 for the storylines modes and one for the minor leagues, which is cool with its own announcer.

I like how the game plays on the field as its essentially '23 with improvements to fielding and pitching was tinkered with, so couple that with the new presentation wipes, scorebug, and improved crowds (including signs) and I can find myself easily getting into a franchise in '24 and enjoying my time playing through it.

I like the additions, although few, to the franchise off the field, most notably the Prospect Promotion Incentive and player awards on cards. But..........unless Y2Y saves returns in '25, these new features lack "shelf life", for lack of better phrase, because I don't sim so therefore, the chances of truly appreciating the depth these award trackings can provide become short lived, unless I were to stick with '24.

There were a few things that I was so much hoping would be added to franchise this year, and to be honest PPI and player card awards were two things on said list, but not having editable coaches/managers, not having expanded ST rosters, not having expanded rosters overall, not having the ability (unless they just didn't mention it) to access prospects during the season anytime I want, instead of just on Sundays, not having seasonal history stat tracking (World Series Champions from beginning to present), amongst other things, really deflated my excitement. We are on the 4th installment of the game without Y2Y saves and when they overhauled the draft last year, I thought ok here we go, it may only be one significant feature per year, but at least we're moving on/catching up however you want to view it. But we got the draft overhaul last year and now this year, it seems we missed out on that one "big project".

I don't know, I just was hoping for more. And while I am sure that I will enjoy '24 when I got into playing it, starting over, again, is getting harder and harder to do. Because I miss out on seeing stories developing in my current franchise play out, and in a manner of speaking are doing the "been there done that" when it comes to the offseason because I experienced these players in free agency already.

I was really hoping to be all in on starting over with '24 because the gameplay, presentation, and franchise additions/improvements would leave me no choice, but as of now, I'm stuck in the middle trying to decide how to best spend my '24 vitrual baseball gaming season.

            Damn

honestly the way they marketed the "draft/scouting overhaul" really rubbed me the wrong way. They didnt make a new anything. They only let you scout/view prospects on sundays now when before you could scout guys every day. You could scout a player 80-100% in 4 days. Adds up when you only get 2 months to scout guys. The draft is still the exact same 7 rounds they just took card reveals from DD and did them for the first 3 picks.

Scouting is fundamentally the same. The functions of discover, scout by position, scouting a specific prospect, they were the exact same/same wording as the old one. Just now instead of manually controlling the length between days they just make you do it all on sunday.

essentially they took the existing scouting function gave it a new menu and forced you to do it on one day.

I just read that article and all I can think is, "we know the community is mad at us, but don't be because we try." And I want to feel bad, I truly do. But I don't. I don't because they allocate their available resources not to adding what their clientele base has been clamoring for, but rather to things like Negro Leagues and other developer passion projects that no one asked for.

So while I understand where the article is coming from, it ignores the underlying issue, which, as I see it, is misallocated resources. That might not be the developers fault, but it is the problem nonetheless.

As for the feature presentation itself, as others have said, I come away underwhelmed. Graphics do look slightly improved and gameplay, as always, looks solid, but I simply don't see enough to get me excited.

I'm sure it'll play great. The hair physics look good. The scorebugs look good. The pitching and fielding tweaks look good. The new faces and lighting look good. Just doesn't blow me away anymore the way it used to.

No one will care but I just need to vent. I think I'm taking this year off. I am burnt out on DD, the grind gets more and more tiresome with each iteration. Franchise was my baby long ago but now it feels like a shell of itself. I have no where to go for my baseball "itch" and it sucks.

I've been clamoring for more variety in critical situations since that's often how I play through my franchise since they introduced it.

Always the awards history for players is a great addition.

Finally got me excited enough to pre load it from GamePass.

If I had to pay $70 for it this would have been the first year I wouldn't be buying on launch and would be waiting for the first big sale like I do with all other sports franchises now.

Well not much to digest here, I will probably purchase the standard edition. I have purchased every year since 2012.

I do think the game looks better. The presentation looks good. I know gameplay will be good as always.

This is my goto game anyway.

I skimmed through the presentation. Did they even address bullpen logic?

Rings hollow, because CAP/RTTS pitchers have been stuck with changeups that top out in the mid-80s, while scanned players can throw changeups much harder, forever.

This is a pet-peeve of mine because I can get into a pitcher RTTS for a whole summer+ (with adjusted sliders of course). But I'm over the "hot-fix" splitter replacement for a change. I'll rely on the community to see if they fixed this, grandfathered in legacy, issue in '24.

Some good stuff in the premiere.....and some stuff that was not nearly as interesting/exciting as they were trying to make it.

Prospect Promotion Incentive is cool....but the graphic had Jeremy Pena, Bobby Witt and a couple other non-rookies on there. I can't help but be worried that one of the things they added to Franchise doesn't even work properly.

IDK. Marketing has been crap all cycle, I think the game will be fine, but it's tough to get super excited for the game this year, which is a shame because some of the improvements do look like nice additions
