I think it ends up being 30 something games that I play manually, and the rest are simmed. That way I can influence the stats, but also keep some randomness/realism.

For Post-Season I usually play the opening game of a series plus clinch and elimination games.
I used to do it this way with quick counts, but with the new sim option, I might try to play the full first game of a series, then 6 innings of the 2nd game and 3 innings of the third game. That'd be playing 3 games in 2, so 2/3 of a 162 game season.

I always start the season however with rivalry exhibitions: STL at CHC, LAD at SF, NYY at BOS. That's how I tune my dynamic difficulty and the camera, options, etc.

Re: How do you plan to play 24?

With 24 dropping early access this week, I had went back and am playing 23 to get ready, but between playing some exhibition games, I FINALLY got around to checking out the Negro League addition in 23.

I know I am WAAAAYYYY late on this, but I never started it last year, and in reality will not finish it, I was very impressed with what I played, just seeing the crowd in what appeared to be time era clothes was very impressive.

So needless to say, I will more than likely start with the Negro League with 24 while I wait for bryanm to drop his slider set.

May or may not do the Jeter stuff, haven't decided on that yet.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

I will jump straight into the first Spring Training game and not look back.

Re: How do you plan to play 24?

I usually do 30 team control, but only play with 1 team which I try to play at least half the season.

I have been having trouble the last couple of years because I have spent so much time fixing the other 29 team's lineups/rotations/IL/etc, that I lose interest in playing my season.

For those of you who do 30 team control, if I set the CPU profile to auto, does that have a major effect in the game? How will lineups/rotations work?

Also, is there a way to have a final decision in trades using 30 team control if I set to auto? The reason I started 30 team control was to prevent unrealistic trades that happen all too often.

I flirt with RTTS for a bit but always seem to lose interest for some reason. My main interest is Franchise mode. I will spend the great majority of my time there.

Problems I'd expect to see from setting Lineups/Rotations to auto would be bullpen alignment. I've found a somewhat decent system to keep bullpen usage in check and the CPU would screw with that.
On the lineups side of things, I wouldn't worry too much. You could see prospects not getting playing time because some lower potential guy playing over them which could be a problem. You also may see more platoons instead of most guys playing every day.

With trades, there is a trade frequency slider so you can turn it up/down throughout the season (low at start of year and high in July). There's no way to veto but I saw someone post here saying they save before advancing the day and back out if any wonky trade happens.

What I do is set up the lineups and rotations how I want them to be and leave it on manual. If I get the itch to rearrange a lineup I will but typically let it ride throughout the season and only address if a trade/injury happens and when a new season begins.

Whatever item you set to auto, the cpu will treat that as you don't have control. If the CPU wants to change its lineup/rotation, then it will. If you want to control all trades, then you can't put that on auto.

For example, I set the cpu to manual for lineups/rotations, but i have cpu trading on "auto". If the cpu makes a trade that affects their lineup, it will message me that team's lineup/rotation needs adjusting. This way I don't have to control all trades, but if the CPU makes a ridiculous trade, I can go in and make them trade those players back if I want to.

MoM with the Royals! Done it this way for years

                        Setup all OD lineups/rotations
Add CAPS from vault of missing players

Appreciate the feedback. So if you notice a ridiculous trade, I would then set trades to manual and go put those players back? Sorry, not the brightest when it comes to this.

No worries. No you have it set to manual for trades and theoretically, the CPU won't make any trades on its own.

If you have trading at "auto", the CPU will make trades and if you don't like the trade, you just switch over to those 2 teams and trade those players back to their teams. If CPU trading is really an issue for you, I would leave it at manual. It's not an issue for me so I really only get involved if the trade is really awful. I allow most trades to go through.

Nice. I never really thought about just switching to those 2 teams and putting those guys back. Going to try it on auto and set the trade slider low so I can try to enjoy my own team for once.
