Offseason trade logic is more broke than ever.

For as long as I remember you’ve been able to steal teams draft picks from the previous year during the very start of the offseason. Well, this continues to be the case but it’s worse now that draft picks are better and players can be traded before they are renewed. I just stole the Brewers generational talent, an 18-year-old A-potential, 80 OVR outfielder for nothing more than a C-potential, 72 OVR infielder. While I think the trade logic has slightly improved in general, the offseason trade logic tied to recently drafted players is so much worse.

There will always be ways to intentionally cheat the CPU, but I would rather see Sony fix it where one CPU team doesn't exploit another CPU team like the stealing the Brewers player scenario.

It’s something about those recently drafted players that bugs the trade logic. If he were a 19-year-old with a year in the game, the trade logic would have worked normally and prevented such a lopsided exchange.

I mean this is the coolest way possible, it is a video game and trade/drafting logic will always seem to be a problem that isn't really going to be "fixed" or realistic.

At least with the show, if what the CPU does bothers us, we can avoid having some of these issues by using 30 team control, and/or using "house rules" to personally only make deals with the CPU that make sense for both teams.

For me, 30 team control is a VERY underrated feature in this game.

Almost sounds like the player valuation metrics that controls the trade logic is looking for past performance data, doesn't "see" it and then it de-values the player.

I would submit a bug report to SDS for something like this: theshow.com/bug

Sidebar: I do not understand why such hyperbole was needed for this thread title. It's a bug, report it and move on. Resorting to hyperbolic statements just de-values your point and reduces the likelihood of someone (important) reading it. A better title would have been "Potential bug with trade logic for new draftees"

If you feel like you’re “screwing” the computer, well then just don’t do it. There will always be holes in the trade logic, it’s up to you to not exploit it.

There’s plenty of times a CPU has offered me a very lopsided trade and I didn’t take it because it was unfair. Or even adjusted my offer to be more in line with what a team would get back. It’s more of a problem if the CPU teams are “stealing” these players from each other. At least as a human user you have some control through restraint

I sim out until all of the players are computer generated, so that helps with any name recognition "unfairness." As for trading with the CPU, I try to put myself in their shoes. Are they rebuilding, competing, do they have a good player in front of a prospect, but has free agency looming? If I were them and I feel the player would be off limits, then it's a no-go. Additionally, if I'm in playoff contention, then I'm only trading with teams that are rebuilding (vice versa if I'm rebuilding).
