Some Hope why MLB 25 will be Current Gen only

I look at SDS/Sony History ? PS4 Pro got released November 2016, MLB 17 got released March 2017 PS4 Only. So the leaks say PS5 Pro November 2024, so MLB 25 March/April 2025 ? If history repeats itself we should have good news on that front

Until Switch 2 is released, I don't share the optimism.

I think because the PS4 version was download only, it wont be on PS4 at all next year, so by extension, I think the XBox version will leave lastgen too. The sticky wicket that will remain will be the wildcard Nintendo. And even if there is a Switch2 next spring, no way will it compare to the capability of this "next gen" XBox and PS5. Whatever happens, its going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

It mostly comes down to Nintendo. They aren't going to not release on a Nintendo console just a couple years after starting to. MLB (who publishes on Nintendo, and definitely appears to be more concerned with getting the game in the hands of as many players as possible than anything else) isn't going to let that happen.

If the new Nintendo console is out in March 2025 as speculated, there's a good chance. Otherwise, there will be last gen versions. Maybe they do like 2k/EA did and fully split the different versions, but they'd still be releasing PS4/XB1 versions in that case.
