How do you build your lineup?

There has been threads like this in the past, but I’m curious to hear what others approaches are. Do you build your lineup with an old school approach, putting a guy with contact and speed at lead off? Or do you take a more modern approach and put a guy who may be slow, but is more likely to take a walk? Do you bat your best hitter 2nd or 3rd? How do you approach your 4-6th spot? What kind of of hitter are you putting in the 7th spot? Do you bat your worst hitter 9th, or put a decent on base guy at 9 in hopes your lead off can drive in a run? With so many different schools of thought on how to build lineups these days I thought it would be interesting to hear others approaches. Here’s mine (note: my lineup philosophy tends to be a little old school)

    1) I’m old school. I always go contact speed
    2) best contact hitter, unless my best contact hitter is my best hitter overall. Then I go second best contact hitter.
    3) best hitter overall
    4) best power/clutch guy. Or 2nd best hitter overall
    5) next best power hitter left regardless of other ratings outside of #3 and #4
    6) second best contact/power combo outside of #3 and #4
    7) a guy with good contact and little bit of speed in case he’s leading off an inning, or if 4-6th clear the bases
    8) a power guy who may not be good at anything else, just to make the pitchers respect the back end of my lineup
    9) worst hitter on the team

I have a more new school approach to my lineups. I’m of the belief the more at bats for your best players, the better chance your team has. If only one guy is going to get 5 at bats in a game, I want it to be my best 1 or 2 guys.

    (1) Best combination of power, contact and speed. Usually a top 3 hitter on the team. Ideal lead off would be Acuna.

    (2) Best hitter on the team, usually less speed than the lead off man but similar contact and power.

    (3) Best guy power wise that still has solid contact. Need him to be able to drive the ball with my two best hitters hitting in front of him.

(4&5) Similar to the 3 hole but contact can be a slightly lower, has to have pop.

(6&7) Best available hitters, leaning more towards power over contact.

    (8) Worst hitter on the team. Want him to get the least amount of at bats possible but don’t want him hitting in front of my #1 hitter.

    (9) More traditional lead off hitter. Decent contact and more importantly, great speed. If he gets on first base someone at the top will drive him in from first with a double.

      80s style

      1) speed
      2) speed, contact
      3) best contact hitter
      4) best power hitter
      5) power hitter
      6) power or contact
      7) contact
      8) catcher, usually
      9) pitcher, speed for AL teams

Yeah 80's style echoed + Dirty uniform mentality!

Texas Rangers Aggressive player lock along with aggressive base running with Power peppered throughout. I can't get the cpu to run as aggressive as me in 24 even with sliders and bumping attributes

Everyone should have a dirty uniform when the game is over!
