Originally posted by Ghost Of The YearIts crazy to think, since 2000, 22 full seasons played, half the major league teams have won a WS. 15 in 22 years, not counting the 2020 60 game season. If that doesn't give hope any team can win it all, nothing will. Significant WS winners since 2000:
2001 Arizona first championship.
2002 Angels first championship.
2004 Red Sox first championship since 1918.
2005 White Sox first championship since 1917.
2006 Cardinals first championship since 1982.
2008 Phillies first championship since 1980.
2010 Giants first championship since 1954.
2015 Royals first championship since 1985.
2016 Cubs first championship since 1906.
*2017 Astr*s first championship.*
2019 Nationals first championship. Washingtons first championship since 1924.
2023 Rangers first championship.
We're getting to the point the Yankees are getting into that 1979-1995 championship drought territory. Its been over 20 years since the Marlins have won a championship. And the Braves just won in 2021 but they seem to still be a popular franchise choice in The Show year in year out regardless how they play IRL.Comment

Re: Help Me Choose a Franchise Team (Official Thread)
Getting ready to start my franchise for the year now that I have my sliders locked in. I’m a massive Orioles fan and absolutely love this team. Just not positive I want to roll with them for a few reasons.
For starters, it will be insanely easy, top 5 roster in baseball already with a top 5 farm system. Team control over almost the entire team for 4-5 years. Secondly, over exposure to the team, having played all 162 with them last year and watching almost all 162 IRL last year and this year, it’s just a lot of Orioles baseball lol. Lastly I will be trying too hard to replicate what they’re doing IRL. Between stats and rosters moves, I will be over analyzing it every step of the way.
My fear with trying a new team is I won’t have nearly the connection I have with the Orioles. I know I won’t lose interest in my Orioles franchise because we will be winning and I like literally every guy on our roster.
What do you guys normally do? Go with a team that you’re very familiar with, know exactly how they set their lineups and use their bullpen? Or do you like starting fresh and making your own decisions based purely off in game experiences?Comment

Re: Help Me Choose a Franchise Team (Official Thread)
I love grabbing an underdog team, and trying to get them to post season glory ... just going all out in a 162 game season in "win now" mode.
right now, it's the A's. the last season they're ever in oakland as the athletics as we know it.
i've noticed little things like the crowd. it was hovering around 18k per game, but a few series wins into the season and it's up to 26k and building. hopefully i can pack out the coliseum and make the playoffsComment

Re: Help Me Choose a Franchise Team (Official Thread)
This is the best thread ever, as I only play franchise all 162 games, I always struggle which team to pick and I never finish a season cause I'm always running multiple franchises.
I strongly believe that this year I will pick the Brewers. Their stadium is nice their unis are awesome. Right now irl they are in first place but anyone can win the central.
I love the way they play and use their speed. They are 3rd in stolen bases. They have one of the best catchers also, and they've never won a world series. An exciting prospect in Chourio. Just a fun team overall
Some other great teams to choose would be Reds,Nats,Rays!Comment

I think I'm finally down to the Blue Jays as the team i'll be using. Havent one the world series in a long time, nice unis, decent roster but not over powering with room to make some moves and in a tough division. Not a huge fan of the stadium but its not awful either.Comment

Re: Help Me Choose a Franchise Team (Official Thread)
They’re basically the perfect franchise team. Like you said, some great young talent but they’re kinda teetering at that tipping point of turning a corner or blowing it all up. They also have a pretty dreadful farm system so you’ll have your work cut out there.
I’ve wanted to use them for years but just can’t because they’re in the same division as my O’s. If I’m gonna pick a team besides the O’s I always go outside the division to freshen things up.Comment

Re: Help Me Choose a Franchise Team (Official Thread)
The Mets and Jays could theoretically pursue his demands. The Rays I'd probably have to head canon it a bit. IE they're opening up their pockets with a new stadium on the way. I'm struggling to decide!

Re: Help Me Choose a Franchise Team (Official Thread)
Looking for a good team with a sub story. More than just playoff aspirations. Example The Pirates and chasing 200 and 100 HR's respectively with McCutcheon and Reynolds or the arrival of Skenes.
Any other teams with fun stories to make a franchise more interesting?Sacramento Kings San Diego Padres Dallas Cowboys Liverpool FC
Sactown Born, LA Living. Music in my ears, soccer ball at my feet.

Re: Help Me Choose a Franchise Team (Official Thread)
If you were picking between these 3 teams for a 1 or 2 year franchise (play every game) who would you pick?
1) Blue Jays
2) Reds
3) MetsComment
