When you know its a 9 batter inning

I love when I know its going to be a nine batter inning. Instead of realistically trying to get a pitcher to get out of the jam and know that the cpu will have a lineup inning, I just leave the replacement pitcher in there to suffer and know sure enough once he faces batters 7,8, and 9 of the inning he miraculously knows how to pitch to get out of it. Games a lot more fun when you know the programming tendencies.
Really wish sports games played to ratings!

Can you elaborate on this? I'm finding the games to have a variety of outcomes, but normally the big innings from the cpu are a result of error on my part either with a pitch, a dumb fielding mistake, or I just leave a pitcher in too long. Being almost 48, my eye-hand coordination isn't what it used to be so sometimes I push the wrong button.

Buttons? You have buttons on your controller? THAT’S my problem then.

I know you are smart enough to know when a bad inning is happening. I just hate when it happens early in a game. So rather then run 3 or (good god) more pitchers, I just learned to let the pitcher suffer that inning. It happens. Pitchers have bad outings. I would run through 3 pitchers for one inning in these cases. Ive decided that I know its not going to go more then nine batters, so why waste the arm.
Also remember Countryboy, I play MoM so it plays different then playing. It may not have those runs playing, but I cant controller baseball anymore. I still try because it is more fun, a game or two here in there in play now, but it would take 6 years to play 1 season LOL. I hate simming.

Well yeah I know when a bad inning is happening because its happening. What I don't know is that once I get to the 7th, 8th, and 9th batters of the lineup its going to for sure end and my pitcher will be out of it.

I just keep thinking with each new plate appearnce of a bad inning that I'm one pitch away from turning two and also think what can I do to minimize the impact of the bad inning.

Re: When you know its a 9 batter inning

I can't speak for MoM so maybe it's different, but when using classic pitching you can sense things are going "south" with either a) your pitcher is losing it or b) the offense is heating up or c) both.

My problem when this happens is having difficulty conceding that staying away from the strike zone, even if I have to concede the walk, is the better option. And then getting the bullpen ready ASAP. I tend to be too much of a risk taker even though the situation is begging me to be "smart". I guess i think like a player more than like a manager in those situations.

                This exactly.

Trying for the QS usually is my downfall. I have seen plenty of times where I can be at 5.1 IP, 0 runs turn into 6 IP, 4 R and I still lose the QS lol.

i wonder if the game has programing built in to where it mirrors real life in that most pitchers drop off when facing the batting order for the 3rd time around..so often pirchers get pulled one out away from getting a win due to stats/anyltcs tellin them its time to yank the pitcher. the pitch confidence meter basically dictates the outing but would be cool if that was the case

Also most pitchers have a decline in effectiveness if they are fatiguing.

A few years ago I had a franchise where I was obsessed with getting deGrom the lowest ERA possible and this scenario would kill me. I’d leave him in too long and give up a few runs, no big deal I’ll make it up next start and then I do the same exact thing and the cycle never ends.
