I mean, there is a part of my brain that gets it, though it's not in the scenario that you described...
Baltimore needs high-end/controllable starting pitching...If they were to trade him, I have to think it would be for that.
*IF* they were contending, and their pitching was holding up, sure, if the OF is the biggest need, Rooker would be a great piece for them. My concern is the fact that Gelof would simply slide into Holliday's place on the depth chart (Which I'm assuming is why he's always on the block), and inevitably be the next guy to slide into their trade block. Personally, I boosted his ratings up a bit so that he'd get some more AB's, and that seemed to help take him away from his permanent spot on the block (I'm not the Orioles). If RF is the biggest need for that team, spend some of the money that new ownership said they'd spend!
FWIW, Baseballtradevalues.com thinks it's reasonably fair, but that site quickly became a dumpster fire. A bit too much emphasis on $'s owed IMO.
Certainly not trying to talk you out of the trade, because I love Rooker, but MAN(!!!), I miss the old days where the trade thread was like 50+ pages long, and everyone was tossing out trade ideas.
Cheers!
