    How to get more strikeouts?

Pitching on legend with CPU contact and timing ramped up to 7. Bad pitches are being punished- correctly so. And I’m walking more batters as I have to be a lot more careful.

My only issue with the above is I’m struggling to get strikeouts. My previous game I managed to increase the amount to a reasonable level by delaying my pitch more often…but I’m not sure if that’s a co-incidence or a valid tactic?

I try to be as strategic as possible with my sequence, e.g if my put away pitch is a slider to a RHB, I’ll usually pound them inside until I get to 2 strikes before going to the low and away slider.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

What pitching interface and difficulty are you using?

Don't forget to be completely unpredictable. Even if it means occasionally starting a batter off with a low and away slider and trying to put him away after two strikes with a totally different pitch and/or location. Hitting is timing and pitching is upending that timing. In The Show just as IRL.

Legend difficulty and classic interface. Was analogue for years but it was too easy to hit my spot every time even with control and consistency set to 0.

I’d suggest having contact & timing both on 7 is overkill. Leave contact at 7 but put timing to 6 or even 5 to solve this issue.
          Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

I have both at 6 and get a good amount of Ks. I would agree 7 for both would be overkill.

Strategically, I lowkey love going against my instincts. Try it for a few innings.

Like if your immediate instinct is to go away, try going inside instead (or at least consider it).

Do that for a while and suddenly your approach on the mound can completely change, and consequently you’ll start seeing things you never see, and doing things you normally never would.

End result of playing like this for a while is falling in love with this game all over again.

Appreciate the advice guys. Seeing more strikeouts with timing at 6 and mixing up the pitch as opposed to setting patterns.

I do believe delaying the pitch has contributed too, would be interesting to see what you all think if you wanted to try running down the clock 2/3 pitches per batter.

CPU stepping off now and then would be a nice touch IMO as it is a long pause due to the clock starting when the pitcher is almost set on the game.

I eventually turned the pitch clock off as it bugged me to no end since the CPU is unaffected, not unlike balks. Which I cut off years ago. All the recent smarter A.I. advances but not yet smart enough to have CPU balks and pitch clock penalties.

Yeah it’s all well and good them adding the odd ‘little thing’ but there are still a lot of glaringly obvious holes in the game that never seem to get addressed.

Use Senga on the Mets lol. I guarantee you’ll get too many K’s! He’s a cheat code lol.

For awhile there I was wondering if the pitch clock was even on lol. Turns out I just pitch too quickly.

Like the challenge system that only works at first base? Why they never made that work properly I'll never know. I turned it off since it's only for first base, and like the pitch clock and balks, the CPU is uneffected.
