    The Draft is so bad

Love the game, straight diehard but My God a bum off the street could design a better MLB Draft Template. I actually like the older draft with the full screen of players to pick from. The ONLY two things that this draft template does better is the image of the player after you pick them & showing the Bonus a player wants. I could go on and on, the draft is a nice change of pace during a 162 game gauntlet and this is sloppy and poorly executed. I control every team in the league and you can’t even see your roster, the time for picks in later rounds is so fast it’s insane - I’m not in a hurry, it’s a baseball game! Not enough players to pick from, the position balance seems to be off etc.

Re: The Draft is so bad

I will take the draft as it is now versus the simplistic point and click we had previously. You were guaranteed to get whomever you drafted unless you decided to not sign them to the 1 year $70k deal. No strategy needed in terms of balancing pool money and could always just take the best player on the board because you had no financial restrictions.

Plus no injuries to worry about, the age issue, and essentially no excitement during the process.

Yeah I’ll take the draft as it stands now versus before the overhaul

The balancing the pool money is a good feature as well.

They are too good at what they do to not have the draft be a bigger & better product.

        The Draft is so bad

        In what ways?

Thus far you’ve called it sloppy and poorly executed, shared frustrations and stated a bum off the street could design a better draft template.

Surely you’re as creative as a bum off the street and could share ideas you would like to see implemented.

Re: The Draft is so bad

          Got ya:

I really dislike how you view draft prospects.
The scroll left or right and only see 3 at a time (especially with really short draft clocks) isn’t efficient. Give me larger portion of the screen where more guys from a position or your draft board are available to see.

The draft times need to have options to be changed, by the time you click a players card & scroll your flying through picks at an unenjoyable rate. Again in control all 30 so it’s a sprint.

When you are picking you need to have the ability to see your organization’s roster. That’s just a bad omission. It’s not as important as other sports b/c guys take years usually to get through the system but it’s still important.

If I was working on creative design:

I would have organization/general manager personalities per say. Some teams like the Guardians like certain types of players (run well/fundamentally sound), cheap teams like the Pirates & A’s who don’t like to pick guys who want huge bonus pool money, you have teams that struggle to sign free agent pitching b/c of their ball parks (Colorado) so they are more inclined to draft pitching prospects, since their isn’t an international draft teams like the Dodgers may have a preference or scouting edge on international players, some teams prefer college prospects over high schoolers - just a strategy/personality trait to the organizations. Maybe as simple as targeting athleticism over power or for pitching they want durability & control over power and stuff.

It’s is nice to see the player pool $ and they got the contracts correct finally.

I feel like there needs to be more prospects to pick from, you shouldn’t run out of starting pitching & position players to pick. You literally run out of almost everything before the final round.

I wish they would simplify the scouting rating numbers to go off the real life scouting scale.

I think the last gen games had an ETA for MLB arrival for prospects as well.

I think for pitching prospects they need to basically get rid of starter/reliever/closer and make it like the athlete position in college football recruiting. They need to have scouting numbers (ratings) determine what a guy becomes or will be better at. Maybe guy like Mason Miller and between the lines of all the scouting you can determine he has wicked stuff, a knack for clutch pitching but will have arm issues if he throws too many innings I.e. determines he will be a closer after drafted and if you made him a starter his durability rating would decrease.

Again, the draft screen needs to have more prospects to see when navigating, the ability to see organizational needs & a way to scroll through your roster by position like your on the trade screen, time of your pick, your previous picks of the draft need to be listed so you know what you’ve drafted.

If you did do the organizational personalities, it would be nice to have a breakdown menu within the draft explaining those features.

How about an option to save or pause the draft in case your wife starts b1tching at you or the coffee hits you the wrong way???

I would also like to see before or after the draft the ability to edit the drafted players instead of making me wait until the offseason. Nothing like seeing that stupid handlebar mustached on a 3rd baseman all year when reviewing your first round picks.

If you want to get corny you could have an active player from your team at the podium making your pick.

With the MLB teams using players in so many positions now un-like years past, maybe you have a transition scouting “rating” for if you change a guy’s position how fast his ratings will be on par with his original position.

Before the draft it would be nice to have 2-3 mock drafts released during your season.

After the draft a recap, where you see who had the best/worst draft value, who were the biggest surprise picks, what picks will be the hardest to sign, who to look out for (hidden gem), etc.

Re: The Draft is so bad

I share a lot of the same wants/additions as you. Honestly the time to pick players never really bugged me, but I do single team control so while the other 29 picks are happening, I scroll through the available prospects and plan my next pick based on who is drafted prior to my turn.

Also agree that I would love to see a mock draft released. I had submitted feedback that they should do one in May, one in June, and then a final mock draft at the beginning of July.

I would like to see a scroll ticker at the bottom that runs thru the previous picks and also list like the 10 best available still on the board. Anything to bring immersion to the draft would be very welcomed.

And I too hate that you run out of players at certain positions as the draft unfolds. Its always pitching and then whatever position is thin that year.

A lot of things I agree with you on here and some things I never thought about (organizational tendencies).

I control all transactions for all 30 teams but even if I didn’t I would draft for all 30 b/c if a team needs a 2B they will draft 3 of them and leave hardly any for the rest of the league b/c there are so few. The logic is bad.

                This I haven't experienced thru 2 drafts.

I refuse to build my team thru drafting until they at least double the amount of rounds. I'll stick to restocking thru Free Agency until, with a dash and pinch of trades sprinkled in.

Until they expand the rosters, I wouldn't expect the draft to exceed in length (6 rounds plus competitive rounds)

I do think that we will see expanded rosters, but its likely a couple of cycles away. I think first contracts (years and aav) will be addressed first and once that is improved and in place, tackling roster expansion and roster building based on expansion will follow suit.

                    Just my guess/thoughts.

I love the draft, I just wish I could carry my save over to the next version of the game.

                        Me too.

I miss that feature so so much.

I am hopeful that one day it will return, but I don't expect it anytime soon.

Would be great if it was next year.

I play every game, but after this first season, I might play only the first game of a series so I can get through the 2nd season much faster. I had such a great draft and really want to see how these players develop.

                            I keep holding out hope.

There will come a time when I will pass on playing the newest version in order to keep playing the franchise I'm invested in. And that time will come when I don't deem the improvements, especially within franchise mode, worth starting over.

I found myself twice this year (doing the offsseason after both seasons) just thinking I miss my previous franchise when this happened or that happened.

My fondest franchise memories are from when the game had Y2Y saves and I got like 13 years into a single franchise, watching how prospects turned out, busts, and how teams rebulit themselves (the Marlins were damn good).

I've honestly tried going back to play that franchise but the gameplay, plus presentation is so behind what we have currently that its tough to get re-invested.

I don't know what '25 will hold in store, but I'm conflicted in that 50% of me hopes the improvements are great and sway me to start over, and 50% of me is hoping they don't move the needle so I don't have to abandon a franchise I'm really getting invested in.

The tough part for me is I have gamepass so just being able to download and play the game is too easy for me not to try the latest version each year.
