    Im sorry I left.

MLB The Show has been my go to basically since it came out. But College Football 25 turned my head. I gave it a week (Got it Monday with 10 hour trial) but until the sim engine is corrected and top 25/ playoffs get a rework it's back to MLB The Show
It also gave me an appreciation for MLB as it's just such a reliable game. Is it lacking a few new features or graphic improvements? Sure, but it's also the best gameplay and doesn't force micro transactions or ultimate team modes down my throat.
It's the closest thing I can find that replicates it's on field game than any of the other sports with NBA 2K a close 2nd.
Not to mention of the forums on this site, The MLB one is easily my favorite. It's the only one I find myself coming back to every other day to check in on other people's franchises.
Sorry for rambling but wanted to get my thoughts out.
Sacramento Kings San Diego Padres Dallas Cowboys Liverpool FC
Sactown Born, LA Living. Music in my ears, soccer ball at my feet.

    Re: Im sorry I left.

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” It’s EA - anyone expecting anything different in 2024 is evidently an optimist to a fault. Years ago I gave up on their modern titles. I play their ps2 era football games, where you’ve got to look hard to find a single bug. A friend of mine bought CFB and I’m happy to just play at his house.

That said, the Show is the only current game I play and I am putting in the most on-field hours in 24 since 20 because the gameplay is finally more balanced again.

I truly believe that people gushing over CF2025 saying it's the best game ever just can't bring themselves to admit that it was all hype. I played it for a day and went back to The Show. I wish I hadn't spent the 70 dollars on it.

It’s going to take the greatest Patch of All Time to fool me into buying College Football, as bad as I wanted to I just know EA Sports all too well.

They fooled me last year into buying Madden after saying it was the best one in a decade, it was complete garbage in Franchise mode terms.

If we could get a few things tinkered and enhanced in The Show I don’t know how anyone could ever not play it.

I'm still upset with myself for forking over that much money on something I'm likely never going to play again. I vowed years ago to never buy another EA Sports title, but the hype sucked me in. Believe me, it is all hype.

I'm still enjoying CFB 25 but no doubt it still needs more work put into it. The biggest thing it has going for it right now is its freshness. MLBTS needs a major reboot too tho. When they changed broadcast crew from Vasgersian to Boog, that was a small right step but not anywhere near a true reboot. This is part of why I'm still heavy into 19 and have 20-24 carefully put away for future use.

I think Franchise Mode keeps its luster when the user can add his own creativity. I can make my own storylines if I have full control of everything (rosters/scheduling/stadiums/transactions etc), when you can’t control depth charts and roster editing on NCAA you’re leaving a lot of chance for computer coding to screw things up. I’ve always wanted every sport game to have a “God Mode” in Franchise Modes (basically like the Editor DB for NCAA & Madden). They send 11-1 Northern Illinois to the National Title over 11-1 Florida - go right into the mode of your Franchise/Dynasty and change it. It would relinquish so much responsibility and backlash on the developers. The Show has Manual Injuries - do you know how much that helps me run my franchise? It’s the little things. I tried to go back and play NCAA 06/07 a year or so ago, but I couldn’t control the depth charts and seeing Calvin Johnson return kicks for example was idiotic.

Matty V is one of the reasons I go back to older Shows lol. Not that the new guys are bad but for me anyway Matty V is the Show.

What do you think are some of the little tweeks SDS should make to improve the game? I know for sure that I wish the game had the override award winners and All-Stars options like NBA 2K has. I see a lot of things that could be improved just wondering what some of yours are?

                    Re: Im sorry I left.

                    Coaches/Managers:
The +1/-1 stuff needs to go. Why would they have a base coach with all minus ratings for teams? I think they need to only affect certain traits. Example: a veteran manager does a better job resting players and maybe he increases durability ratings, maybe there’s managers who are better with fundamentals and the fielding ratings go up; base coaches will increase base running ability or aggression, they shouldn’t effect a guy’s speed rating or throwing arm. Etc. And for the Lord Almighty, Stop making the Yankees base coach have a beard every year!

I use auto base running - there needs to be a managerial option to manage base running; I’ve got Bryce Harper up down two runs, I want to be able to make sure the guy on first doesn’t try to steal. Maybe on the tab you have the ability to turn aggressiveness up - you have the 9th batter coming up maybe the aggressiveness sends a guy from second instead holding him at 3rd. Strategy options for base running.

Please bring back the ability to hit a button and see pitcher’s pitch repertoires like every other game they made; hate having to hit start.

Computer Bullpen: if you can’t make it so the guys warming up are the only ones that the cpu will bring in - don’t allow a cutscene for cpu bullpen. Two guys warming up and they bring in a diff guy is bad presentation. Fix it or eliminate the cutscene, just have two randoms slinging it in bullpen.

Flying aircraft: to my knowledge you can’t fly a plane over a stadium (NYM), and the president to my knowledge doesn’t take off 12 times a game from his helicopter (Wash) - get the little stuff fixed there. Maybe different color schemes on planes in San Diego… maybe the presidents helicopter only flies by on Saturdays and the announcers make a reference to it etc.

Jerseys in stands: they need to get the crowd tuned. Maybe 2 of 5 jerseys are your highest rated player, 1 of 5 is a throw back and the other 2 of 5 are randoms. I shouldn’t see 50% of stadium in Ohtani jerseys in LAA, he plays for the Dodgers!
And when a player in your franchise gets traded his jerseys need replaced in the stadium. Your highest rated player needs to slide in or maybe you can even choose what player is best represented.

Replay package: the ability to create your own game presentation. Click box style! I pitch and hit from same angle so I love to see a strikeout from behind the pitcher replay w strike zone - I absolutely hate the pitch sequence replay. How about the ability to select which ones are used and aren’t used? I don’t like the one where they show you making contact 3 times w a home run and don’t show anything else - but love other angles; sounds dumb but would help create your own vision for enjoying the game.

Since the nets have been added to every stadium to protect fans it seems like the developers have struggled to create enough images of balls hitting the nets and they disappear on half the foul balls; if you can’t get it fixed right just never show a foul ball that goes into the stands. Would cut down corny presentation issues. No different than when you hit a ball straight back - just right into the reset for the next pitch. If a high pop up is 50/50 on being caught going in stands you show those.

The MLB draft needs re-done so bad - I’d need a day to create the template on what I’d do; not gonna type it here. Maybe in 1979 teams were discovering USA prospects, not in 2024. Maybe discover foreign kids - every team should have full list of USA players to draft. That whole system needs re-designed. Specifically having to scout LF & RF makes my head spin!

Franchise: organizations need philosophical management strategies; the A’s are going to operate differently than the Yankees. The game needs to reflect that.

Small ideas I have - let’s say a team is a bad attendance team drafts a star and gets to MLB; that player needs to have a badge that increases attendance. So if the A’s have an Acuna like player he has the ability to boost your team’s “value”. Whereas a team sales at the deadline and gets rid of a guy like Tatis for SD - their attendance gets even worse. I know the game fluctuates already but this would add even more to it.

Obviously we need a sim-engine rebuild and a rating fix for progression/regression. Won’t go into that; bullpen logic and sim logic for bullpen etc.

Strategy issues - if there is a guy on 1st and second the cpu never holds guy on 1st - that’s not right. They want to keep double play in order, not gonna let me have an extra step for free. Some little things like that.

Please stop playing bunt coverage w 3B just bc an elite hitter is fast; a 3B shouldn’t be playing the bunt with Mike Trout up.

The ability to control cpu lineup before game. They botch lineups too much; that logic also needs tuned.

Please put elbow surgery as first injury so when I put the guys who blew out their arms in spring training out for the year I don’t have to scroll. Injuries need to be more realistic - I’ve never seen so many broken shinbones in my life the last two years of playing this game.

Please get a stamina rating for position players, a guy like Volpe plays everyday and is dead tired after 3 straight games on The Show. Need to be able to fix that.

Stamina - guys shouldn’t be dead the first week in April! Players should have better stamina early in the year or during long home stands. Players should get worn down more in August and during 9 game road trips. I think it was last year Acuna was always at like 35% after 3-4 games in a row.

I love the rain starting later in the game, need even more weather control. Wind, when it rains or how hard, temperature etc.. Allow the user to be controlled by the game or control everything. We all have preferences.

I’ll stop there for now and add more later.

For my pitcher yes but it doesn’t work to see CPU’s pitcher’s anymore if I’m not mistaken.

This is a huge list. I agree with many of them, starting with Managers. I'm not even into the attribute ratings increase at all. I think that Managers should have their own "player card". It should show their career record and who they've coached. You should know who you're hiring from a success standpoint, so you're not just going for a guy who might be very sucked as a manager for other teams but has the best ratings boosts. I've also been wanting Managers to have some sort of personality and strategy behind them. Baserunning, pitcher management, substitution frequency, lineup logic, and even player type preferences are all things that need to be incorporated into this. How about pitch counts and innings limits for games and innings limits for seasons. The other thing, if they're not going to update this horrid system, that has sucked forever at least give me an exclusive staff negotiations period where I can retain my coaches without having to scroll through a list to find them.

I also agree with your take on stamina that needs no elaboration.

                            International free agency.

More trade slots and up to three team trades and cash considerations as an option.

The ratings system is a mess. This game needs tendencies for players or ratings need to translate to certain types of outcomes. There are far too many pitchers that have very low K/9 ratings. If they have high H/9 and BB/9, they'll have decent careers. It seems though that the pitchers that are generated with high K/9 have no control and low BB&H/9. This is also for the base roster. The weight of the K/9 rating is so skewed. If you raise it to get pitchers in the proper K rate range, it will balloon their overall rating.

Some years ago, they added a hitting type for hitters (pull, whole field, push, etc.). Why haven't they added a groundball/fly ball pitching type or added a rating or tendency for the frequency of this. They need to remove pitch speed caps. You can make pitchers with 99 m/ph fastball that have 84 m/ph changeups. A 15 m/ph difference between the two. This is in the elite of the elite of speed dif. Most sit in the 8-10 dif for good to above average for power throwers. So if a guy is throwing in the high 90s, the change is going to be high 80s to low 90s. There are some guys who can throw a sinker in the upper 90s. The pitch speed caps are stupid and need to go. Show how walk rate and K rate translate to discipline and vision. Have different types of clutch (one for when runners are in scoring positions and one for big late game moments). Have durability for certain parts of the body. You were so right about the injuries and need for realistic ones. Tommy John surgery should be an injury status and should carry over for more than one season...the game should have carry over injuries in the first place. If you tear an ACL in August, you shouldn't be back in April.

The draft player pool has issues. I agree with you here as well. OFs, MIFs, and CIFs should be groups, and pitchers should be a group. Almost all pitchers are starters that get moved to the bullpen. Very few pitchers are straight-up closers when they join an organization, and even when they are, they aren't typically 1st rounders. Even still, they don't typically have 5 pitches, nor do most middle relievers. Based on the ratings, you should decide where they fall for development, and the game should have logic for CPU teams to do this also. Same for position players. Then there's the generation of the player models. The 5'10" 172lb players with husky or fat or buff body type are just odd. Players with 5 to 6 different brands of equipment (this is tolerable as some brands don't make every type of piece of equipment), too many 5'7" to 5'10" players generated, Asian players with hazel eyes, black players that all look like they were sent to the future from the 70s and 80s (because there aren't enough hairstyles in the game for black player models, which is a little understandable because there are few black players in baseball), way too many players with fairly high base stealing tendency to the point where like half of most teams have 20-20 guys and oh yeah with pitchers again guys with sub 90s FBs.

A lot of the ratings I listed above lead to a bad sim engine. I find it interesting that I can see more pitchers with 100 walk seasons than hitters (and that 100w walk seasons for hitters are so rare that theu should be losted as a very rare achievementfor the game to reach platinum). Also that the 100 walk pitcher with a 5 or 6+ ERA will have 30 or more starts. The CPU logic never sees fit to send them down to AAA, DFA, trade, or cut them. As far as stats in general, I'd like to see ERA and OPS plus added into the game. Add a pitch framing rating and some way to differentiate pop time for catchers and track how effective catchers are at throwing out baserunners. Track defensive stats for each position played (in a different screen of the player card) so that if a primary SS plays 125 games at 2B and has enough defensive chances, they should qualify for a GG. Allow two-way players to not have to have P as their primary position (and also thus be able to qualify for a GG if they play the field and don't pitch in a season). Also, add playoff hitting and pitching stats for each player in their player card (no game does this for whatever reason, be the first). All time, single season and single game records are the biggest joke in this game. No game or league covers it's records quite like baseball. They do this so much that they've decided to try to erase or seperate themselves from one of the games' most exciting eras in recent memory. This game does the opposite, it has one screen with all of the records and nothing more. Even Madden does this better, and if Madden is doing anything better than you, you are doing it really bad. For this just simply take a page out of NBA 2Ks book. As far as franchise options, take a lot of pages out of NBA 2Ks book.

I know this is a lot, and that none if it will ever be in the game; but it must be said howuch is truly missing from the game.
