This is exactly my goal when picking a Franchise team. But my problem the past few years has been I never make it more than a month into the Franchise. So I'm committing this year to play with 1 team, which makes this decision feel more important. I think there are several good choices, some of which you mentioned. Blue Jays, Angels, Padres, Red Sox, Pirates, Rangers, Cardinals, Giants, Cubs. I think I could be playoff contenders with any of these teams and they all have multiple season appeal. But how to choose just one?

Despite being tempted (because indecision is my worst enemy) I’m still sticking with the Angels lol.
Blue Jays were under consideration but for me, I may wait for the Vlad resolution. If they lose him and can’t resign anyone else, it could lead to a really fun rebuild.
Other teams that got strong consideration from me included:
Colorado - Great stadium, needs lots of help but is possible.
Pittsburgh - Best stadium in game imo, great pitching core but everything else is up in the air.
Cincinnati - Solid youth, new manager, needs guidance.
Seattle/ Tampa - Never won a WS and a lot of questions despite strong cores at the moment.
San Francisco - Old but historic team with a great stadium. Buster Posey in charge now, hope that things can turn around for them.
Oakland - Well, the storyline is obvious. Hated by most MLB fans and the idea of taking the team that people are frustrated with would be a lot of fun imo.
Washington - Forgotten team imo. Love the young outfielders and they have some potential in the pitching rotation.

LA Dodgers fan but I always play A's just because they have best looking uni/hat combo lolComment

Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread
Honestly, add the Cardinals into the teams that would make a really fascinating franchise going into this year.
Loads of history, deny “rebuilding” yet only have aging stars and have lost many of what made that team great over the last decade.
Willingness to spend but are in a tough spot with their roster.

Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread
I've played with the Braves for years since that's my favorite team.
Will probably stick with them for 25, but I'm tempted to do something different and go with the Angels this time.
My local team is their AA affiliate. They'd be a fun rebuild. And Ben Joyce and Christian Moore are former Vols.
I've also had thoughts of just running a Trash Pandas dynasty and let the big-league club do its own thing.
And if I miss the Braves, I still have my 24 dynasty.Comment

That said I might go Pads this year. They're a good team in the game but not overpowered. The division is really tough could be a really fun franchise run.Comment

Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread
I'm generally the opposite. I'm too emotionally invested in the Pads at this point, also we have season tickets so we're there all the time, it's kind of nice to play games at other parks.

The Red Sox offered me Anthony, Mayer, and Campbell for Cease in my franchise lolComment

Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread
As a Cards fan, this is the most pumped I've been for a franchise in awhile. I like rebuilds and they are finally in a place that it actually makes sense to do a true rebuild for my favorite team (although real life is brutal). Gonna move Arenado in Spring Training, probably Gray and Helsley at some point during the 1st season and see where it goes. They have a lot of young potential so it should be a fun rebuild this year.Comment

Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread
Hyperfixating on one team the whole pre-release window and then recognizing that you can't play with them at the first weekend feels really bad.
Like I said in the Franchise Thread: I struggle to hit at home with the Twins due to just not seeing the ball with a certain lighting/shadow later in games was was mentioned here before, but honestly it wasn't much better on the road as well. I got 1 hit out of Buxton in the first 9 games and funny enough: When I rage-simmed the last one he hit a HR in the first simmed inning.
Another thing that kinda annoyed me: They have a RP with Eiberson Castellano as a rule 5 draftee on the team who is really bad but can't be taken out of the roster because of that. And honestly the Ty France signing kinda ruined what I planned for them.
So it's back to the drawing board. Usually there is a "break glass in emergency" team I always have my eye on in cases like that since they are so historically tragic, a thing I always like in franchise modes, but quitting on the Twins because I can't hit with them and then re-starting with the Mariners doesn't sound like a smart idea.
I usually look at teams that have a fun rotation to use and that would be the case with them. I really like the outfield, Raleigh is awesome as well and the infield has enough holes for improvement. Maybe the obivious choice is the easy choice in that case.
All other teams I am interested in are in divisions I don't really want to play in(Giants) or have an awful stadium(Rays, As). The other team that would fit my criteria would be the Pirates, but that is such an boring choice since I assume there are a lot of players using them this year.
EDIT: Okay, forget everything. Not only is Julio one of the most fun players to have in the game, but the cast of sidekicks on the Mariners roster is just perfect for me. A Donovan Solano-Rowdy Tellez 1-2 punch in the middle of the lineup? I'm in!Last edited by Cyrus09; 03-16-2025, 06:55 AM.Comment

Turn Injuries to manual. Tell the player the team doctor says he needs surgery. Elboy surgery that takes 250+ days to heal. Move him to the 60 day waiting list. Move him to Single A. Move another player to the majors and another player to your 40 man. Is it cheating? I don't think so. Players need surgery all the time. Teams make business decisions all the time to better their club. Being a GM isn't supposed to be easy on your soul, its supposed to be a tough stressful burden that sometimes hard decisions must be reached. Also, there's nothing wrong with honoring that rule 5 selection and sticking it out with him either. That's a hard decision too. There is no right or wrong. There is only try. I think Yoda said that. ?T-BONE.

Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread
For my franchise players who do 30 team control is anyone having issues where your main profile u use for ur specific team has trade block and few other things turn to auto? I have a profile for CPU teams that has everything set to Auto and then my profile everything set to Manuel but randomly after playing some games it'll set some of main profile to Auto stuff. It's annoying because they start calling up/down players etc.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon in a patchComment
