It also is month/time/weather dependent, as well as the camera angle you hit with. Your 2 games may have been outliers in regards to those. I suggest playing in July at 7pm, Clear skies and let me know how you perform offensively first 2-3 innings against top pitcher.

At least in my experience, it's a perfect game through 3 until the shadows cover the batter's eye

100%. I’m pretty sure it’s 7p games in the summer months. Then the sun sets…

Can’t just practice it either, the ball is damn near invisible haha

Blue Jays for life. Just can't get emotionally involved with any other team. I just hope they do away with that bright background in Franchise mode. Last years was my least played because it caused me a lot of headaches.

I joked earlier in the thread that I would play the Dodgers but in all seriousness that’s not going to happen.
I played the Jays on 24’ and I can’t ever count them out.
Id like to avoid any rebuilds this year. I also never take top 10 teams so I will be looking for mid tier teams to use.

Still undecided until I get my hands on.

Man, so many mid team choices. That would be hard to pick.

Yeah. I have difficulty choosing a team every year hahaha. I also have other influences when choosing.
I must like the uniform options.
              I must like the stadium.
I prefer teams that have playoff droughts.
I prefer teams that have a couple obvious roster holes so I can put my stamp on tge team immediately.

All of this keeps me bouncing back and forth on teams and I usually end up with my beloved Jays.

              I think I have problems.

I actually can relate. I'm most likely using cleveland this year but for the last 3 years I've used different teams and had a whole process of rules when picking said team. Lol

It sounds like you will land in either of the Centrals if you want that level of mid.

But I agree that those are usually the most fun saves in sports games. I don't think I ever played a serious run with a bottom feeder or a title contender.

Yeah some good options in the central.

I'm a Reds fan and think I may finally do a franchise with them this year. I love Elly and the young staff, just need to solidify the outfield.

                        I think I have problems.
Mariners: 1 playoff berth since 2001, 0 AL Pennants, nice uniforms, great stadium imo. Great pitching staff, but really weak offense.

Rockies: Haven't made the playoffs since 2018, haven't made it past the DS since 2007. Never won a World Series. Uniforms are kinda meh, imo, but it's a nice stadium. And that team is bad.

Giants: Despite their dominance from 2010-14, they've only made the playoffs once since 2016. Roster has some good players, but it's far from a dominant group. Great uniforms (and they'll get a new alternate this year), and one of the nicest parks in the game

Pirates: 9 year playoff drought, 45 year World Series drought. Has some really good young players (especially Skenes), but the roster is still somewhat incomplete. Great uniforms, also have an amazing ballpark.

Marlins: Only 2 playoff berths in 20 years, 4 in their history. I like their uniforms, personally, and they should be getting a new alt at some point this year. Stadium is okay. Roster isn't very good.

Is the only realistic way to run a Jays franchise this year to run through year 1 then let Vlad and Bo walk? Rough couple of days for us...

I'm *kind of* thinking this may be my first franchise of the year, though I think I'll struggle to let them go, even though it seems inevitable. Maybe I'll let them hit free agency and see if I can outbid the other teams in the league for one or both of them, given that we're supposedly getting an upgrade to the free agency process?

                            Pros:
-Dumpster fire of a farm system that will be fun to try and upgrade.
-High draft pick in year 1.
                            -Playing with Scherzerrrrrr(!!!)
                            -Solid rotation.
-A few holes to fill in.
-A large payroll to try and pare down.
-Figuring out how to deal with Vlad and Bo.
-The fact that you can essentially take over and say "You know what, the real-life GM should be on the way out the door anyway, so this is a realistic take-over".

                            Cons:
-With the way regression has worked in the past, Scherzer is going to be a peasant by mid-May because of his age.
                            -Again, Vlad and Bo...
-The fact that everyone will hate you because you're in charge of a team run by Rogers...
-If you're like me, it'll be nearly impossible to make moves because it's hard to seperate real-life from video game world when it comes to your favorite team.

My main worry when I pick a franchise is if I can stay engaged for 3+ seasons. The last con is what makes me worry about running the Jays.

Not Franchise, but since there's no thread to get that in, I'll do it here.

I usually create 8 players in RTTS (4 outfielders and 4 infielders, no C or P) and cycle through them one week each, so I don't get tired of always playing the same guy.

So far, I'm torn between a three or four guys at each position.

1B : Albert Pujols, Jim Thome or Frank Thomas
2B : Ryne Sandberg, Dustin Pedroia or Craig Biggio
3B : George Brett, Cal Ripken Jr. or Mike Schmidt
SS : Ozzie Smith, Robin Yount or Derek Jeter
LF : Rickey Henderson, Barry Bonds or Tim Raines
CF : Willie McGee, Jim Edmonds or Kirby Puckett
RF : Larry Walker, Ichiro Suzuki, Vladimir Guerrero Sr. or Tony Gwynn

I've always had a Guerrero in RF, and I've had few years with Griffey Jr., Bonds, Alomar, etc.

I have to like the player a bit and I don't want to go back before the early 80's.

                              Are we March 13th today?

I have to like the player a bit and I don't want to go back before the early 80's.

                                Are we March 13th today?
I like this idea. Just for fun, this would be my choice of picks from the candidates:

                                1B Frank Thomas.
                                2B Ryne Sandberg.
                                SS Ozzie Smith.
                                3B Mike Schmidt.
                                LF Rickey Henderson.
                                CF Kirby Puckett.
                                RF Tony Gwynn.

And I'll add a pitcher and catcher just 'cause.
                                P Doc Gooden.
                                C Gary Garter.
                                DH can be Mike Piazza.
                                T-BONE.

                                Talking about things nobody cares.
