Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread

I've settled on the Nats for this season.
-Up and coming club in a monster division.
    -Decent market/payroll if done properly.
-None of the prospects outside of Abram's have really established themselves. But big potential.
-Stadium is fine uniforms are pretty good (gonna be bummed if the cherry blossom one really is gone). Also getting a new CC jersy this year.
-Really like Crews and Wood as prospects. Excited to play with them.
    - with the 1/1 pick, gonna CAP Ethan Holliday and establish the O's Nats Holliday brothers rivalry. (Gonna make sure Jackson doesn't reach FA).

I tried to start one with the White Sox last night, and messed around a bit, but as soon as I started a game, I just had to stop. Absolutely couldn't see myself getting invested in a team having to play in that park 81 times a year.

Anyone rolling with Miami this year? I kind of like the stadium more now, and the idea of putting Garrett/Perez on the IL to start the season means the pitching should only be "ok", while the offence will continue to have zero pop. Plus, trying to go toe to toe with 3 gigantic payroll clubs (the Braves would be the closest, only $160ish million more than the Marlins), and getting to watch the Nats develop could keep it competitive.
Miami is a fun choice, and a real challenge. Love playing in that stadium with the roof open. And cool uniform options.

Also cleveland has some new uniforms coming this year, and they look good.

That cherry blossom uniform is underrated.

I started a Marlins franchise on 24’ using opening day rosters. I got about 45 or so games in. Was really enjoying it but was running a Jays franchise as well and ended up finishing a season with them.
Still have tge save file if I choose to jump back in but I don’t really care for the stadium.
But the throwback uniforms are really nice and even though I think I was a little to successful with them (I was in first place 2-3 over the Braves) if I remember correctly just about every game was close.

I also have been contemplating the Nationals. I’m a Mets fan and directly competing against my favorite team doesn’t really thrill me but that Nats team seems like a ton of fun.

Another question for you guys that have done the Rockies. How bad over 162 is the offensive output compared to real life? Any time I play at Coors it’s a slug fest, I mean 8-12 hits each team on average. I fully understand that it’s normal there but my concern is the game almost gives too much advantage to Coors Field in game and makes it unrealistic.

I think I would seriously consider the Marlins if they would play in another division. But looking at the 3 teams that are clearly above them AND a Nationals team that is so much more advanced in their rebuild compared to them I don't know how to get short-term motivation out of that scenario. The only position player I would be hyped about playing with would be Edwards.

But they will still be a very interesting team for any franchise, because they probably have the biggest trade chip of the year with Sandy. I can already think of so many scenarios where he would fit perfectly.

Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread

I’ve made up my mind and will be taking a job with the Los Angeles Angels heading into the 2025 MLB season.

The Angels haven’t made the playoffs since 2014 which was the only time Mike Trout has appeared in the post season (Swept by KC in 3 games). Mike Trout, one of the best to ever do it but plagued by injuries and poor front office decisions. The free agents they signed are exactly how I would have chosen to begin fixing this team; Yusei Kikuchi, Jorge Soler, Travis d’Arnaud, Kenley Jansen, Yoan Moancada, Tim Anderson & JD Davis. Add in a decent group of mainstays, this team just needs to begin changing the culture surrounding the team.

Goals will be to firstly make the postseason. Then to build and compete for a World Series. I play 162 so realistically I think I could finish 2-3 seasons, so there’s no time to waste!

Wish they would have kept that as their alternate instead of bringing the red jersey back.

I think I'm into it because of that massive hill that I'll have to climb.

My plan would likely be to hold onto Sandy until Memorial Day weekend, and see how things are shaking out. My biggest fear is that I move him to start the year, then hang in there through July 1st, and need a replacement.

You're right though-Lots of great potential landing spots for him. @Jeffrey Smith-He'd look good filling out that Guardians rotation...

Re: MLBtS ‘25 Franchise Team Thread

We're like 9 days away... and I can't F'in wait. I enjoy reading this thread every year. The way it stands, I wanna say i'm leaning one way but then I think a little bit more and decide "Nahhh"

I think my biggest problem about franchise, is I have the attention span of a dog.. I start one play it for awhile.. and while i'm at work, i get bored and can't stop thinking about the show so I was people play franchise on youtube and then I get a different idea of what I want to play and go home and start a new one. its terrible, i hate but i love it all at the same time...

Anyways.. For sure, one franchise i'll be starting is with my Braves...

secondly, i will want to handle a rebuild type. Taking a look at this article from the Athletic, on rankings of franchises in the last 25 years..
                      https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/616...ings-25-years/

And who can I take over and help to win a championship with?
Here is my list of 5 that I plan on narrowing down over the next week or so.

Reds - potential star power, with some needed help
Mariners - JRod and a good staff, but more is needed.
Marlins - complete overhaul. Need anything and everything.
Nationals - Build around Crews and Wood with other young talent.
Athletics (something about those green/yellow unis' and now playing in a random ball park)

If i remember, i'll check in with my final verdict before next thursday!

I really like the White Sox uniform options but the stadium is meh. But if a total rebuild is your thing then I think they are the best option.

Yeah definitely going for the total rebuild option. Probably will be relocating and changing uniforms and stadium. Thinking Charlotte or Nashville for the relocation.
