It looks like the Franchise thread for this year will be pretty Central-centric.

I’m not gonna lie, seeing that Sutter Health Park is *kind of* in the game it has made me consider doing an A’s franchise.

I absolutely hate what John Fisher did to Oakland and I sort of see the whole process of the A’s as the heel of MLB. However, that kinda makes it sound fun too lol.

Fun thought exercise: Which team do you think will be the least used team for franchise?

For a lot of rebuild guys, the Dodgers seem like they’d never get used but there are tons of LAD fans out there. White Sox are awful but people love doing rebuilds.

If I had to guess I’d say… Tampa Bay?

I feel like Houston is a team people always avoid for trash can reasons. But now that they traded Tucker and lost Bregman, their team isn't as appealing. I also feel like Miami is not picked often, even for rebuild lovers.

100% agree about Miami. They should get picked more but I just feel as though there is nothing specific to “feel” about that franchise. Stadium is meh, history is meh, players are meh…

I did one with Miami i think 3 years ago. It was a blast.

Houston is primed for a rebuild in the game, I think they are just not very well liked, and have already had too much success.

                Astros are a good call.

The other I thought about would be the "boring but good teams" in Brewers and Guardians. Both teams build their teams in a similar way that doesn't look like the classic franchise mode team approach. More solid all around then big star power or big name prospects to build around.

Yeah, a lot of people find it uninteresting to roll with a team that just won it all. Tho I do recall Atlanta getting a lot of love in MLBTS22 and same with Cubs in MLBTS17. It really is lonely at the top.

Man, Astros are always one of those teams that I *think* about - but with them having so much success the last 10 years, I never do it. But back in 13 or 14 when they were BAD (Altuve and Correa were super young. Chris Carter was one of the potential stars, Villar, Matt Dominguez, JD Martinez to name some others)

But now the state that they're in, making them appealing.. You have Alvarez that will be a franchise staple and star.. Altuve is at the point where you end his career there. Their farm isn't GREAT. it is tempting at some point to use them.

But the Marlins like everything is talking about. I do enjoy their uniforms and I feel like thats a big part of my rebuilds, surprised they're not usually a common team that gets used.

edit: please excuse my poor attempt of quoting lol

I could never play with the Yankees but with Gil, Stanton and Cole all out they would actually be pretty interesting.🤔

Plus it will be easier now even for Yankee fans to do a Yankee franchise now that they dont have to worry about signing mustachio free agents.

Probably going with Chi Sox this year.

First, I love Chicago as a city and believe it or not, I actually very much enjoy Rate Field. I've been a few times and always enjoyed myself. Having a park that I enjoy playing in is huge for me. If I'm not going with my Red Sox in Fenway, then this is a top priority. So sorry Tampa, you'll never get my attention in Franchise mode.

Second, the challenge of putting out the dumpster fire and building a contender. I usually do not pick a bottom tier team simply because as someone who enjoys playing every inning of every game (I also play full twenty minute periods of every game in my hockey franchise), means that I usually wrap up my first season in Franchise sometime in November, and I just don't have the time to put into a multi-season rebuild. However, something tells me that The Show 26 won't have any huge changes regarding Franchise mode (i.e. teams relocating, stadium changes, etc...) and so, I'll hopefully be able to keep my Sox franchise going.

Now don't get me wrong, I'll still buy the Show 26 (I'd pre-order now if I could ). I just know that barring some unforeseen circumstance, MLB teams are pretty much stable for the next three seasons.

For me it's all about finding a team that feels like I'm building realistically. That's why I struggle tonuse teams like Cleveland, Miami, Tampa, because I know they don't even spend a little bit in free agency. Then you have the teams like Colorado and The White Sox who are too broken lol. I want to at least be competing in August/September. I try to aavoid the top, top teams, like LAD, ATL and NYY. So this year I'm leaning towards The Angels who have no issue spending a bit but always on the wrong guys, Seattle who aren't afraid to make a trade, or perhaps The Cubs? Idk still figuring it out. A decent team with playoff aspirations but maybe not the World Series obvious teams. A team that isn't afraid to spend a little.
I'd use San Diego but imm too attached to the players. Can't use my favorite teams in franchise. Texas or Houston could be fun.

With the things you look for in a team:
                              - willing to spend money
                              - no top contender
                              - possible to make changes

Aren't the Blue Jays a perfect candidate for this? They've shown that they are willing to spend, they are in a competetive division and not without chances there, they are on the door step of a rebuild and have enough holes right now that could be fun to fix. And as a bonus you have a guy like Vlade for at least a year that is so much fun to use.

You know what Cyrus that's actually a really great shout and haven't used them since the Show 20 or 21. Might just make the leap. Probably let Vlad go and resign Bichette as it seems the deal just isn't happening or maybe a full teardown if we aren't competing. Send Bichette to ATL and Vlad idk. Then if I spend on 1 giant free agent it doesn't seem wild because they're willing to spend. Just tell myself they finally got a player to bite. This might he the one. Thanks man
