And this is exactly why it isn’t on gamepass it’s bad for the gaming industry. They can’t make money from renting games. And sports games are a thing you don’t have to buy each year too.

I hope so. Its worrisome because the only reason to stop doing a steelbook and ballcap is if the money isn't right.
And when your money is no longer right, that's worrisome.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a steelbook gets announced soon featuring the Negro Leagues.

When they release some info on NL legends they will probably release info on a collectors edition.

I agree...I have every single Steel Case except 24......and dang it....going to get it now on ebay with the hat etc for $25 because I am a sucker for steel cases for The Show.

Shocked we are not getting another one as usual and another hat.....why?

Yea Im surprised there is no MVP Edition this year.... Really shocked to be honest, believe we always get MVP and Collecter's Edition each year.

Guess I'll be going with Digital Deluxe this year.

For some reason I always need the box. I am an old fart. I do hate waiting a few extra days but I dont start franchise until first in season update anyway with Sasaki and the other imports.

I forgot about him, that’s going to be a 5 or 6 week wait to work on rosters. Only Ohtani got special treatment with that, can only hope he does too

With the amount of hype around his signing plus him being in the game with a scan in a previous version (2023 with the WBC), I hope his process gets "expedited" a bit this year.

I'd imagine it will be similar to Yamamoto last year, i feel like he was added pretty early on. The Dodgers open in Japan against the Cubs early again this year and I'd imagine they will pitch him in that series

Steelbook and other physical pre-order rewards are going away since everything is being pushed digital now. I doubt it’s a money thing and more so that most purchases are digital so not really a reason to keep making those. Let’s see if they release something about if in the coming days though.

Yeah, I'd love for Sony to figure out how to get me some swag with my digital purchase. I don't need any more New Era caps tho. I need a MLB The Show toboggan, complete with pom lol.

Good point plus the Dodgers have the other asian import also at 2B so maybe he gets in fast.

I wonder (even if its 20 years away) if we will ever get to a point where it is digital only and no more physical copies

When NFTs make their grifting comeback, you’ll get an MLB The Show NFT for your preorder.

That’s been the plan since Microsoft has been trying to get everyone to move to cloud gaming. Ideally the console will be just the tool to run cloud games from, but we’re not there yet.

I’m curious what the split it for digital vs. disc sales. I haven’t purchased a physical copy in 10 years and while I thought I’d hate it, I absolutely love it. My full library is available to me at all times and my concern about older games not being available is pretty much gone since even my old XBox games from last gen all work (and some 360 games as well). With download speeds pretty fast now and pre-downloading available, I can play games like MLBTS at midnight on release and can pick and choose what games I want to play then. The MLBTS servers at launch on the other hand…

That is true about many games, except sports games make more money on microtransactions than they do sales. So the less players playing the game, the less they will be paying into their actual cash cow. I guess time will tell if this was the right move financially or not.

But as a franchise player, I just won't buy the game bc I'm not going to buy a game that I haven't enjoyed in years when I've trialed it on gamepass. Had it come to PC, I would have bought it bc of future mods and because I could play it on the go on my steamdeck. IDK why they refuse to adopt PC, probably scared mods will make updated rosters in perpetuity and that they couldn't sell the same game to everyone every year.
