3 Things I'm Hoping to See in Show 25

First of all, are they finally adding the sweeper? I think it's time guys. So many pitchers throw this pitch, and it's become such a discussed pitch. Hope we see it in this year.

Second of all, this is one I check every single year when editing players: can we finally select custom secondary positions? Let us choose which ones, not just the pre-defined ones like 1B/OF, IF etc. At a minimum, give us a utility preset.

Third, will this be the year they remove MPH caps for pitches? Let us throw 91 MPH changeups. Let us throw 99 MPH sinkers.

    What do you guys think?

I agree with all - but I'm not super optimistic that these things are top priorities.

However, we've already seen the impact that Ridin/tabarnes have had on a few of these small "nagging" reoccurring issues - like correcting option years and a few other things that only come up when you spend a lot of time editing players, so maybe a couple of these do make it in.

I say this as a someone with no game development experience, but a decent amount of data modeling experience, but I kind of get the sense that there are a lot of small things in the game like pitch types and velocity limits that are coded/stored much deeper in the foundation of the game than it seems like they should be - if that makes any sense? As an example why did they have to add a quirk to allow certain pitches to exceed the pre-existing velocity limits instead of just raising/removing said limits? Kinda smells like a "band-aid" fix on something that would be a much bigger lift to fix permanently.

I see your point - my understanding was the caps were added because of RTTS/created players. I'm not sure how easy/hard it is to remove them at this point.

        Yeah that's the big question.

I could very well be speaking out of turn - I'm sure the game is much more complex than the excel files/data sets I deal with a work - but my guess is the way that the game is structured is making it harder than (we think) it should be to change some of these seemingly minor things - perhaps due to lack of "future proofing" some things 10-15 years ago.

Again....all this is entirely speculation from some random idiot (me) on the internet!

We definitely need the sweeper! I also hope we can get pitchers who throw 6+ pitches and/or pitchers who only throw 2 pitches.

Re: 3 Things I'm Hoping to See in Show 25

Top 3 things I want to see:

            1. "My League" Total Customization Suite so we can create any era we want. Want to play the 1985 season? Great we can eliminate teams, realign divisions, customize era specific rules (no 3 batter minimum rule, no replay at 1B since that's all we have to this day) be able to have alternate created home and away uniforms as well (why only one home and one away still?), this would also require a new schedule generator for the amount of teams in your custom league. NBA 2K has the very best "My League" "Era Mode" in sports gaming and if The Show could do this.....it would be the ultimate love letter to their long time fan base and OG baseball fans in general

            2. Extensive expansion of the audio name database - We are missing way too many common and legendary names and it's year 4 of the new booth (who I love) and high time this get's the TLC it needs.

            3. Expanded Rosters for full minor leagues including full A ball and an international free agency period, non roster spring training invitees as well. And this will require the financial system to be overhauled as well....so My top 3 are big asks....but at this point the game has pretty much hit that wall where we need something off this list to happen to get a lot of people excited again.

I have already pre-ordered and am excited for the game....regardless I love playing The Show because nothing is better on the field than The Show. It replicates the sport incredibly well. Better than all the other games including 2K. That's just my opinion of course.

My order of interest in these three:
1 - Custom Secondary Positions. On a scale of 10 for necessity, I'd rank this a 10. Been wanting them to do this forever.

2 - The Sweeper. Get rid of the Running Fastball. Use the slot for the sweeper. I've never even believed ts a real pitch anyway. Better yet, let me also be able to give two of the same pitch to a pitcher, so I can give one pitch a different speed rating and/or movement rating. This is a 7 of 10 for me.

3 - Remove the MPH cap. Scale of 10, this is a 4 for me.
              T-BONE.

              Talking about things nobody cares.

                For me

1- Expanded rosters (though not hopeful we will see this)

                2- International signing period

3- Smarter franchise AI, I would love to not need 30 team control. But seeing a team trade Judge for like Cal Raliegh to me just can not happen

                  1. There was a thread opened about it today but I definitely agree that 6 man rotations would be great without having to switch out the 5th starter manually and put him in the bullpen. Like with Madden basically where you can switch between 3-4 and 4/3 defense. That should be possible without that big of a problem?
                  2. Having the international guys on release would be great. I think it's weird to release the game with one of the key names of the offseason missing for weeks.
                  3. A thing that 2k added a few years ago: Dynamic hairstyles. For players who grow out their hair it would be cool to see that in the game as well. Just compare Nick Castellanos in the game to him in real life now. Straight up looks like a different human.

                    Things I'm hoping for

Increased trade slots maybe 5 or 6

Free agency bidding like madden had a few years ago but opened ended and not on a timer that updated in real time
Ex team A upped there offer and player reaches out asking are you willing to add a extra year or x amount of dollars to complete the deal or focusing to much on certain players gives you a risk of losing out on plan b or c if plan A fizzles out

                    International free agency

When dealing with extensions either 1. A player wants to negotiate with you and has a deadline for negotiating or he will go to FA 2. Doesn't want to resign but your a contender do you keep him and risk losing him for nothing or do you go all in that year and lose him in FA

Updated owner goals that uncludes a teams finances and trajectory if a owner is willing to give you more funds to reach certain thresholds or you need to cut payroll

I would like to see as far as editing rosters go.

                      1. Full HIGH-A.
                      2. Let us cary more than 45 pitchers total in organization.
                      3. Let us change a batter to pitcher in postitions and edit him to be whoever. This would be a huge game changer as us roster editors go we already half to use LEGENDS to turn into missing minor league players and we always run out of pitcher spots to use even after maxing out the created spots they give you which isnt very many.

Re: 3 Things I'm Hoping to See in Show 25

I'll echo a lot of the same requests people have made around these boards:

                        1. Expanded Rosters
The ultimate request would be to have playable Single-A teams as well - but on top of that, we need to expand the roster size at each minor league level to upwards of 30 players to include the development list/injured players. This would really save time and needing to shuttle players between multiple levels every time there's an injury in the big leagues and you need to call someone up. Then I can keep guys at the same level until they are truly ready for the next one or enough injuries/transactions occur that they are needed at the next level, instead of needing to completely re-structure each roster every time one person gets injured at any level.

                        2. Bullpen Logic
It's been discussed ad nauseum here, and even though it does feel a little better than in years passed (at least with a little bit of micro managing/rotating guys into different spots), there are still some issues with simulated and played game bullpen management by the CPU. It just feels like they let you off the hook too often by not using their best, high-leverage relievers unless it is a very specific scenario (especially if they are in the SU/CP spots)

                        3. General Trade/Roster Logic
A few things I've noticed - team control and salary should be weighed higher in the "player metric" they introduced a few years ago. An 88 OVR A POT guy in his walk year should not command the same return in a trade as a guy with the same OVR/Potential who is just hitting arbitration. I don't think the current systems accounts for that very well at the moment. I'd also love to be able to manage the CPU teams trade block while still allowing them to make their own trades from that. The CPU should be a bit more active in the waiver wire - right now it feels like you can just slip anyone through waivers when you DFA them, it doesn't really feel like there's a risk of losing them.

                        Michigan Wolverines

                          I'm hoping for the following:

                          1. Updated/new jersey templates. Let pullover jerseys look like pullover jerseys (sans buttons). Baggy uniforms, tight uniforms, etc.
                          2. Updated uniform creator. Let's have the option for pullover jerseys (see above). More customization with sleeve patches, more letter and number fonts (I'd like to see all actual MLB fonts able to be used, this should be easy, but perhaps some are trademarked), option to add New Era logo on caps, Nike logo on jersey and pants, and MLB batter-man logo on jersey and pants,... etc, etc, the more customization the better.
                          3. Updated Stadium Creator. Dome options, better and smarter 'snap' implementation for connecting props, outfield wall customization (yellow home run lines, distance markers, advertisement placements, scoreboards in play/on wall), bullpen location options outside of playing field, at least one new set of seating props, better external stadium façade/prop options (aka - I build out my stadium and then I can snap dedicated façade prop options to the outside of my stadium to make it look more professional), new location options for outside of stadium.
