People look at those old games with rose colored glasses. The 2K baseball games were terrible. There's nothing more you can say about those. The MVP series from EA was good in 2005, but the EA today isn't the EA of 20 years ago. EA has become quite a joke in the last 10 years or so. I see people talking about the new boxing game that is out, and people saying they need EA to come in and make a new boxing game to save them. EA isn't saving anything. Their UFC games are terrible. The only thing they really do well is FIFA. The new college football game was fine, but I think that was just the hunger for having a college sports game again. You would likely get better graphics with EA and 2K, but you won't get better gameplay. I'd bet anything on that.

Re: All MLB The Show 25 New Features, Explained
- First person fielding (could choose to do that in the RTTS info dump, but it also should apply to player lock)
- Showtech (no idea)
- From the text part of the gameplay trailer drop - "New Reaction Time System on defense" (Could be the aforementioned Showtech? I dunno)
- Probably some explanation of the multiple icons underneath the fielder at 1:29 of the trailer - my guess is it's showing standout ratings on-field for the player (I'd be really surprised if it was tiered quirks)
Probably some other stuff that people couldn't pick up from the trailer too.Last edited by bcruise; 02-11-2025, 09:08 AM.Comment

2K Baseball had the better presentation and commentary. Gary Thorne and Steve Phillips were way better than Matty V imo.Comment

- New G.O.A.T difficulty which could launch into a whole explanation of how it differs from the others (though they might rather save that for text form)

I would associate first-person mode (which I'm a fan of) and the multiple icons with QTE's. Maybe less on FP because there will be some real-time action, and hopefully it bodes well with hitting (I wish we had a bill of the cap/helmet though), but when my mind went to what the trailer showed with button combinations, all of those for me fell under "quick time events."
And I too have no idea what Showtech is, besides a buzzword. The word itself means nothing, whereas the coding/engine means everything. What is under the hood is all that matters. It doesn't need a word, and the same changes will be in place. Hopefully they are descriptive of those things, and not saying "Showtech" in every sentence.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: All MLB The Show 25 New Features, Explained
It will be a written blog.
EDIT: actually we may see gameplay videos along with this. I forgot they are doing deep dives with Robert Flores, so it may be more than a written blog.
Thursday will have a video premiere with game developers showing off gameplay improvements/additions while discussing them in further detail

I really hope it's something like we had years ago. Where you set food, ticket, and merchandise prices. I loved setting promotional days too.Comment

It’s used to be 4pm ET/1pm PT, but not sure if they are keeping that timing from previous years.Comment

My guess, and its only that, is that it will happen around the same time the trailer dropped.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

more so clear by the fact that EA put there money behind Super Mega Baseball. I think they are fine with that. It sells wellMets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Well, sure they are. People have been accusing EA of making arcade games for decades. And now, there's no need to hide it.Comment
