MLB The Show 25 - Fielding Feedback: Gameplay Updates
After that gameplay deep dive I’m quite underwhelmed.
“Ambush Hitting” seems pretty adjacent to “Guess Pitch”. Nearly feels like the same thing.
The other gameplay improvements seem negligible. Throwing meters revamped are ok I guess? Same with fielder reactions etc. Most of these changes feel catered to the DD Crowd. GOAT difficulty intrigues me however.
But honestly my gripes with this franchise have rarely been anything to do with gameplay as I feel it’s in a very nice spot. Any improvements we do get are welcomed.
I would love to see an animation overhaul however. I’m seeing the same ones in this trailer I have since MLB 15.

Re: MLB The Show 25 - Fielding Feedback: Gameplay Updates
So that’s it? Guess pitch has been renamed and the throwing meters have been changed again. I don’t see how this can move the needle for anyone. I understand there’s different departments that work on different aspects of the game, but I don’t understand how if gameplay has barely changed (which is fine since it’s already in a good spot) for the last two years, why haven’t the graphics, presentation, and franchise mode been receiving significant updates? Where is their budget going??Comment

Meh, nothing overly exciting here. They basically brought back guess pitch and renamed it to present it as something new. Fielder reactions and the new jump meter are ok. I turn throwing meters off, so.......nothing in there really gets me hyped.Comment

Is the GOAT difficulty only applicable to user hitting? They only described it from that perspective, would really suck if pitching won’t have the GOAT optionComment

Re: MLB The Show 25 - Fielding Feedback: Gameplay Updates
If you’re a clean screen player then it doesn’t seem like there’s anything here for you. Also, why do I need different colored arrows to tell me I got a good or bad jump? How is that “game changing?” Lastly, am I to understand that the goat mode is only for hitting? I don’t hear people clamoring for more difficult hitting too much, but I do hear that pinpoint and meter pitching can be too easy quite often. I’m not really trying to be a negative Nelly. I do still intend to buy the game, but like I said after the last video it’s not because of anything I was just shown.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 - Fielding Feedback: Gameplay Updates
Gameplay changes seem good but nothing revolutionary. I am a fan of making perfect throws riskier by putting it at the end of the green zone, I think that is a great change. Perfect throws always felt too easy to me.
The HR robbery meter is good, makes the timing a little more legible, I just hope it doesn't make it too easy.
Infielders getting better jumps based on attributes seems like something that should have already been in the game, no?. What does the reaction stat do if not that?
Ambush hitting is just simplified guess pitch, eh.
As for the visuals I will say the grass does look a bit better in closer shots but about the same from far away (which has always been my issue). Could just be Youtube compression so we'll see. Dirt still looks pretty bad in most shots however and I think that is a bigger issue than the grass ever was.Comment

Is the GOAT difficulty only applicable to user hitting? They kinda made it sound like that, really hoping it’s on user pitching too which is very much needed more so than hitting IMOComment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Deep Dive - Gameplay Improvements
Very underwhelming. They named the guess location of pitch “ambush hitting” and gave IF the same weird animation where they get stuck in the mud and dont move if they have bad reaction ratings.
Do like the rob Hr improvements because i found that impossible to time previously.
But biggest excitement i potentially got from this video was seeing that they may have finally added the sweeper. Did SW stand for sweeping curve last year?Comment
