Anyway, I like all the changes. The throw meter will be great as it will force me to be a little bit less aggressive on routine plays and make me think twice about trying to throw that runner out at home when the bases are full.

Meh, to the homerun robbery. This happen so little in baseball that I can take ti or leave it.

The fielder reaction time is great as others have mentioned because it should separate the good fielders from the great and the bad.

I don't play on high difficulty so the GOAT difficulty will not affect me, but I hope that whoever uses it gets the challenge they are looking for.

Ambush hitting...this, I think, will be the best improvement and the most legit "baseball" improvement. As someone who played the game one fo the first things you are taught is to cut the plate in half. You will hear it talked about during games and even in movies. you cut the plate in half and look for the ball on your half. This is baseball 101 so this addition, because it really is nothing like Guess Pitch, will make this game feel more realistic. I use zone hitting to replicate this in 24 as one maybe a 2-0 pitch you are looking for an up and in fastball, so with the cursor I can guess that. I agree with what someone else said, it is nice to get a little bonus for only swinging on the side of the plate that you were looking at.

IMO this just took the game from a will buy to a definite pre-order.

Former player and coach here as well. I am a clean screen guy and use directional hitting. I too am very intrigued with ambush hitting using my clean screen approach and sitting on pitches at 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-1 and 3-0 green light situations.

I do know the PCI is a random dice roll on directional/timed if I am
Not using the directional feature on any particular pitch amd the hitting ratings weigh heavily on this hitting style.

So I hope to see Ambush hitting as a legit option for my play style becasue now I will be potentially double rewarded sitting on a hanger or middle in fastball using ambush coupled with directional.

Look forward to hearing how it works with this particular hitting interface.

Currently still hopping on 24 from time to time to get my fix, having checked out the trailers so far and while not TOO bad, there is definitely nothing there that moves the needle for me to jump in, possibly when it gets a major price drop? maybe, maybe not, 24 is playing really good.

What stood out right away was all those damn meters...lol my goodness, if they wanted to see how many meters they could shove into the game, then they definitely succeeded there.

I'm sure all that can be turned off though, although I do worry about KnightTemplar and his crusade to get that dreaded blue circle to be able to be toggled off...lol
It probably was just a giant leap of logic for me.

I was reading that (with the combination of leaving X1/PS4) as maybe they need to sell units at $70 a piece to justify the upcoming improvements.

In reality, I'm just desperate for a refresh with this franchise.

I mean to each their own and you can do what you want. Seems like an odd approach to mute people with valid complaints/concerns.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Updates Deep Dive

There is no doubt in my mind that this years game will be better. To me last years was amazing. I am very interested to see what all the offseason stuff they are adding. I also want to see if they address the high budgets that some teams have and the inability to add any talent on these teams until they get under that budget. To me that is the number 1 concern. I have never tried to turn off budgets, but if teams like the Dodgers and Mets aren't addressed then big time Free Agents will sign with Small Market teams and that just isn't realistic. I utilize the Sponsors for money, but I also assign sponsors to all the teams as well so that they to can gain revenue. The free agent bidding that was mentioned has me intrigued. To me the graphics are amazing right now, I wish they would just focus on updating or fixing certain issues

              1. Bullpen Logic
              2. Budgets
              3. Trades (We used to be able to void computer trades as they happened. Why did they take that feature away? )

Those are the only issue I see right now. The game is awesome and I enjoy it more than any other Sports game out there. It is head and shoulders above Madden and NBA2k. College Football is Close. Fix the little things and to me its about perfect. Once again 24 was amazing, but 25 will be better and worth the purchase

No it's not....you are not guessing the pitch at all and being rewarded you are correct.

All you are doing is sitting on a location, not a pitch.

It's called keyhole hitting.....huge part of the art of hitting. Pitch recognition out of the hand is also part of that and I love that aspect of the game hence why I don't use Guess pitch. I am a much better hitter without using guess pitch.

Guess pitch is actually guessing the pitch type and location and getting a buff for all of it. Not my cup of tea.

Ambush hitting simply gives you a bigger PCI area if you are sitting on the outside or inside location and I can see it being a very nice compliment to what I already do with a clean screen approach using Directional/timed and factoring in the player ratings as the primary driver.

If it's not what I think....I won't use it and continue to love the game the way I have since 2009.

                No biggie.

With the pci increasing and decreasing with the new hitting system…hopefully it puts hot and cold zones in account. Maybe it’s just for the first pitch of an at bat. Lots of unknown so far.

I really hope they can confirm if GOAT difficulty is applicable to pitching. Perhaps in tomorrow’s video they will say ?

It is actually "easier" than guess the pitch. 50/50 guess to get a boost or to lose. The gains/losses overall impact will be make or break this feature.

You are right. I don't mute people who have valid complaints/concerns, I simply mute those that I feel add no value to a conversation....... and you just made the list Mauer!!!

Back to topic, I will be interested to see the "bonus" you get from guessing the side of the plate correctly. Hopefully it is not too much and maybe differs depending on the hitter. Or perhaps even a % change so the better batters get a better advantage. For example, a hitter with 90 contact at a 5% boost would get 94.5 contact for that swing whereas a 70 contact hitter would get a 72.8 contact rating for that swing.

That being said for power, it should be a bigger boost because if you guess the side of the plate correctly, your swing is dialed in a bit more and this can cause more power.
