Defensive WAR

I could have swore I saw something a couple weeks back that defensive WAR would be implemented in franchise mode but I don’t see it.
Am I missing something and/or recalling incorrectly?

I remember seeing that as well...don't have the game yet so can't check anything, but I suppose it could just be an under the hood component of how they calculate WAR

It is under the hood but factors into the overall WAR calc. There is no individual dWAR stat.

Have they figured out how it’s calculated and factored into regular WAR? For simmed games how are they going to determine how defense effects WAR since the games are not actually played, which means no defensive plays can be factored in?

Defensive WAR has always factored into the WAR calculation that has been in the game the past few years, however it wasn’t a very good iteration of it.

They fine tuned it for this years game because WAR is used when AI evaluates players and if you have a bad dWAR calc then your evaluation of a player will be bad.

dWAR still accrues for simmed games. This is speculation, but there is likely a formula that is used to determine how much dWAR a player earns per game based on fielding attributes during a simmed game.
