My favorite division is NL Central. I take the lowest payroll team in the NL Central and then rebrand/relocate. This year it will be the Pirates.

Re: Need help picking franchise team
Boston will certainly be a challenging pick. Its no given they will even still be standing in October, what with the Yankees and Baltimore in their way. Tough division. Toronto could be dangerous too. Heck, the east is so tough I could see Baltimore missing the postseason.T-BONE.

Nah, you gotta go Nationals so you can rock those sweeet 1981 Expos uni's all year long. Plus competing against the Mets Phillies Braves even Marlins will make you the best version of yourself you can be. Do it, DC Expos!T-BONE.

You will end up with almost every team in the league suggested here and won't be any closer to what you are looking for. Look internally for those answers first.Funkycorm

Re: Need help picking franchise team
The more I look into the Pirates, the more I'm considering using them...It's a good looking challenge.
-Best stadium in the game.
-Paul Skenes.
-OK farm (14th in the Majors).
-Solid 1st round pick in the draft (6th I think?)
-Low budget.
-LOTS of holes to try and fill on the entire roster (IKF is going to be their opening day SS?!?!?!).
-A reasonably tough division with the Brewers/Cubs/Reds all looking like they could make some noise.
-Oneil Cruz is a ton of fun to mash and steal bags with, and Bryan Reynolds is solid as well.
You may have settled it for me...2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

I think we're following the same path on picking a team...

My love for Casey Mize is unrivaled. No matter how many injuries or "Ok" seasons he puts up, I'll always be pulling for that huge breakout season.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Love the idea of playing with Pittsburgh until I get to the free agency and try to keep it realistic...Sacramento Kings San Diego Padres Dallas Cowboys Liverpool FC

Re: Need help picking franchise team
I kind of view taking over a team as a complete overhaul from ownership on down. I use my own house rules to make it as realistic as I can though.
For instance, with Pittsburgh, Vladdy is out of the question, but I'd definitely have no problem hitting the second tier of free agents, as long as I can keep the budget at a reasonable level.
And I mean, I know that they didn't sign him, and probably didn't even put a formal offer out, but at one point early in the offseason, the Rays were in discussions with Juan Soto...So it's not out of the realm of possibilities that Pittsburgh *could* conceivably make an offer to a decent free agent one day.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: Need help picking franchise team
I’ve made my choice.
After playing a bit with the Guardians and Pirates and even giving the White Sox a quick glance I’ve definitely decided on Detroit.
Love the clean look of their home uniforms.
Love the look of the stadium.
Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter and Tarik Skubal are a nice core.
Also a deciding factor in choosing them is that with the roster im using they have a goal of reaching the postseason year 1. So I feel i have to compete immediately.MLB: TORONTO BLUE JAYS
