I could be wrong but isnt SDS deal almost up they signed it in 2020 no ?

SDS doesn't have any kind of exclusivity deal, anyone can make an MLB game if they choose.

I am just speculating, but maybe the release of the Pro Spirits MLB app this year is a "test" by Konami to see how much interest it generates before deciding whether to enter the USA market with a full PS5 MLB game.

I'd love to see it but I'm skeptical that any company wants to try to compete with The Show's stranglehold on the MLB video game space. There's a reason EA hasn't attempted it. Well that and they probably know that no one would choose their microtransaction-riddled pay-to-win version of a Baseball Ultimate Team mode (which they would probably have to call "BUT", which is funny to me) over DD which is nowhere near as predatory as other major Ultimate Team modes.

Picking up the rosin bag in PYS helps your release timing late in the game when your pitcher is tired.

I neglected to mention earlier that flicking the right stick up when pitching will enable a full power pitch. It increases the power and effectiveness of the pitch but reduces your stamina. Best used IMO when you have two strikes on a batter and need to punch him out.

You are probably right, but then why would Konami go to all the effort to get an MLB license and create all the MLB players just to issue an app which plays in the same manner the Japanese game? The app has been downloaded over 500,000 times. Perhaps it is to get a sense of how their baseball system would be received.

In the case of EA, going to all the effort and expense to create a baseball game from scratch would be high risk and so I can understand why they would pass. However, Konami has its eBaseball engine which has been refined over the years of successive yearly editions of the Japanese game as well as now the MLB players and a license from which they use for their MLB app. That ought to provide a solid starting point for any PS5 game they decided to launch.

Also in the Pro Spirits game a pitcher is not limited to a maximum of 5 pitch types.

The ability to have different home/road equipment and also able to set home/road uniform…high socks on the road and low pants at home for example
