    No offense to the author but the focus on overall ratings is misplaced and comparing pitcher overall to position player overall is apples to oranges.

    For example I've see catchers in the draft with good overall but weak arm strength. Weak arm means more stolen bases for the opponent. I wouldn't want that guy on my team. You have to dig deeper than overall.

    He also made a major mistake by not including stamina in the starting pitcher attributes. When a pitcher reaches 25% of stamina an attribute penalty actives and it gets progressively worse as stamina continues to decline. A starting pitcher with better attributes but poor stamina is going to be a worse starting pitcher than one with slightly lower attributes but great stamina.

      The reason Ohtani has such high pitching ratings is if you edit those down just a little he no longer is a 99 overall.

        You don't even have to edit his attributes to lower his 99. Just changing his position to reliever drops him below 90. I guess relief pitching isn't as important as starting.
