In the 20 years I’ve played this game I can say that this has been the most difficult experience hitting. Really a struggle. It might be because well I’ve been playing for 20 years so my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be but I also feel like the timing window is much smaller and the breaks in the pitches are significantly more.

timing hitting, on HOF, and I'm finding it almost the same as last year, if anything, a bit too much power but could just be a hot streak.
      Same experience here

Same. This is easily the most difficult time I’ve ever had with offense in this game, and I’ve played since it’s first one. It’s to the point where it’s more frustrating than fun. Feels like you square one up and it’s a foul or a weak grounder/fly out. Now I’ve entered slider hell looking for a solution and thus far haven’t found one.

I actually like the challenge because when I do get a big hit, I feel much more rewarding. I just feel like it better represents the challenge of baseball and hitting. The last few years were solid, but I felt like I was hitting a bit too well on legend. This year it seems like it’s a bit more difficult to make clean contact too often, which to me is a good thing.

I will say the hot/cold streaks in this game can be brutal. I started out my franchise over the first month and a half pretty much tearing the cover off the ball with my entire team.

Then towards the end of May and through June, it has been an absolute struggle to score runs. A lot of squared balls/perfect/perfects resulting in line outs. Double plays galore which i'm convinced is just a legacy hitting code issue at this point that I've learned to accept throughout the years of playing the show.

I'm tossing it up to just baseball being baseball which i think the show does an awesome job of replicating. However, one thing I really wish they would improve is the strike zone/umpires. The umpires don't really seem to have tendencies which leads to a lot of missed calls, and just an abysmal strike zone overall. I'm hopeful the ball/strike challenge system is implemented soon.

I believe that it's just the sport. This is baseball. You'll have a run where you cant miss and runs where you feel like you should've never played the game.

The umpires definitely have tendencies. There used to be a list here somewhere, but they usually mention them in game. It doesn’t mean they stick to it exactly, but certain ump have tighter zones than others and some reward pitchers more in one area of the zone than others.

It’s actually one area that I think is done pretty well since we know how bad and inconsistent the real life umps can be.

They do mention the tendencies, but I think it's pretty inconsistent even within some of the same at bats. For instance, in the same at bat, you can throw 3 or 4 pitches in the same exact location and it can be a roll of the dice which one's will be called strikes/balls. Then I find they miss quite a few strikes that are well within the strike zone that most MLB umpires are not going to miss except for on the rare occasions.

I'd love to see them implement some type of hot/cold zone for the umpires to see which spots they favor. MLB umpires are pretty consistent whether it's consistently bad/average/good. There's too much variation between each at bat versus the entire game imo.

I find hitting horrible this year. Typically play on all star with power +1 and legend pitching with cpu power +1. This year had to drop pitching to HOF. Hitting wise i’m still on all star messing with some sliders because there is no offense in this game. Lack of home runs, a ton of “weak” contact. the ball feels dead. Not to mention the pitch speeds seem incredibly fast compared to last year. Much like others mentioned fastballs seem to be incredibly fast, breaking balls have insane break….its really not fun. Veteran is too easy, all star is way too hard. Anyone got slider ideas? I’ve messed with contact +1, timing +1, power +1 etc….nothing seems to do much. The lack of home runs really kill me.
lol. I just came to see if anyone was seeing as many HR’s as me. Maybe updates have changed the power since your post but im playing as the tigers and hitting bombs like crazy
