Feed your player all of the cards you aren't using, except your lowest overall starting pitcher which you need to put in the 5th spot on squad rotation.

After feeding him all the guys that you aren't using, hitting square to do "Best lineup" or "Best rotation" will put him the starting rotation.

Now, when the game starts... if he isn't the pitcher randomly selected, he will be on the bench. So when the position comes to the plate that you want him to play, sub him in.

From there, if you decide you want him to pitch, swap his position with the pitcher, and then swap a position player with the old pitcher who is now out in the field. What I am not sure of is if he is coming in "cold" so to speak since he doesn't have a bullpen session beforehand... but I do remember on the stream them talking about "you can have your player in the field the entire game and then come in and close" so I assume if you move him to pitcher he is warm. He does seem to have the endurance of a reliever though, not a starter... so don't expect to be able to pitch him for massive innings each game he isn't picked to start.

Same thing when you are done having him pitch, swap his position to where you want him in the field, that player you swapped with is now the pitcher, go to your bullpen and put in who you have warmed up.

Does this make sense? I can try to explain it better.
Good grief. Should we really have to go through this dance?

I wanted my guy to play 3rd base...but the Cpu said my best field position was 2nd base. So i just fed him every position player not being used and got his rating above the pitching slot and high enough to crack the bwnch lineup. Sheesh. It should be easier.

I am also getting this as an issue. Hopefully this is a bug that will be patched ASAP.

I also battled with this issue but then I switched places with my created player and a substitute 2B player. It seemed to work that way. Try to place your player in the substitutes first and then moving him up to the lineup.
