I'm not a huge baseball fan so I'm unaware of how difficult it is for a batter to hit a pitcher who has the same handedness.

But in this game, the penalty is quite large. Is it really bad in real life? Even the best hitters in the game get their PCI reduced to a pea when facing an elite same handed pitcher. Even making perfect contact with the ball results in pop flies.

I wouldn't have a problem with this if it wasn't for the fact that we still cannot set multiple lines ups in Diamond Dynasty. We need the ability to set a left and right handed pitcher lineup and have the game automatically select your lineup when the pitcher is revealed.

The way it is now, you have abuses of power where players will back out of matchmaking if they hear you changing your lineup or will keep backing out of matchmaking until they see that their opponent is using an opposite handed pitcher.

Facing someone that throws from the same side as you is definitely tougher for most batters in real life. But their are players who hit better against pitchers that throw from the same side as them such as Joe Panik hits left handed pitchers really well, Evan Gattis has better contact and power against righties but for the most part the batter is usually at the disadvantage then if they were batting right handed against a left handed pitcher

I played a little college ball and played all my life and I can honestly say, I despised batting against a lefty (I'm a lefty). For one, anytime you face a pitcher that throws everything behind and comes into the zone is going to be tough. The problem I had was that 90% of lefties have an odd motion and arm slot so it was even harder to try and pickup the ball out of their hand as it was coming from behind and at a weird angle. It was tough for me. I know other lefties that preferred hitting lefties but couldn't hit a righty. Made no sense to me but everyone is different.

So I'd say the game represents it pretty well from my experiences. Some can do it, I couldnt.

Yes it is toughe in real life as well. However, a little advice for you. Set your base lineup to be strong against right handers with a few that are decent/good against both and put guys good against lefties on your bench with one being well rounded for pinch hit situations.

I know these aren't great examples due to the stub requirement but I do this

Start Luis Gonzales and have Cody Hart on the bench
Start Reggie Jackson and have rookie Juston Upton on the bench.

When you get to the pre game lineup screen, look to see what you're facing and make adjustments.
