Am I'm overrating left handed 1st basemen?

I've refused to use anything but left handed 1st basemen since MLB 15 and all the bunt/speed cheese.

It's just about impossible to pick someone who is leading off unless your first baseman is right handed. Last year, once I obtained Rizzo, it was like night and day. I could punish people trying to guarantee second base steals with 99 speed players.

But 1B is typically the power hitter on the team and there are almost no high rated lefty 1Bmen in the game so I was giving up having good batting on my team to prevent steals (because I also refuse to use anyone at catcher that doesn't have 90+ arm strength as well. So that only leaves Molina and a created player).

Am I overreacting (since stopping stealing is much easier this year) and I should just get a power hitting 1st baseman and catcher instead?

I do say yes you're worried about it a bit too much. I've played a good amount of online games and can honestly say bunt/steal cheese isn't prevalent at all. I too have Yadi but I have Killebrew at first and have yet to have an issue. Yadi isn't a guaranteed throw out so I'm contemplating upgrading there to a more offensive minded catcher because I feel offense is the best defense. Most of the speedsters aren't great at hitting so when they're up, run bunt defense and pitch high and tight. If you get beat tip your cap but I doubt it happens very often. Definitely not often enough to handicap yourself.

This is such a newb question but how do you quickly switch to a bunt defence?

Don't worry about it, we all had to learn too. Just simply press up on the Dpad. If that's not it it's down. Lol. I think it's up but if that brings up your subs and bullpen it's down.
