How are innings counted in DD?

I asked this question on the Conquest Q&A thread and could never get any input. Does anyone know exactly how innings are counted in DD? I don't know if it's done like official MLB baseball, but I doubt it. Do you get innings credit for using a pinch runner, pinch hitter, reliever for one batter, etc.

From my experience, to get credit for a full inning that player has to play a full inning. So if you bring in a pinch hitter for your pitcher and then bring in a pitcher the next half inning to replace him, you will only receive .5 innings for said player.

Do you actually earn .5s? If I pitch the top of the inning with a qualified player, then PH for him with another qualified player, do I earn 1 inning?
