I heard that Sony started taking away people's cards last week.

Does anyone still have them? Or have you seen people online with them?

Just wondering if it's safe to play online head to head again.

I might be naive, or not thinking the logic through the right way, but I feel like, anybody who is going to have a crazy good team in this way will quickly get their rating up and be playing against other crazy good teams (however those other teams were collected).

Doesn't it stand to reason that you will either a) not have to worry about them since they are too highly ranked, or b) you are also at a high rank because of your own skill plus quality of team and should beat up on fools hitting above their weight class, so to speak?

"crazy good team" =/= highly ranked team

there are plenty of people who suck at the game and have a ****ty rank. I think the issues is that some people grinded to get these players, some spent real money to do so, and some just had them given to them because of a glitch, not exactly fair.

I agree that it isn't fair. I was just thinking of the reason for concern over running into one of these teams.

I mean, I haven't been playing against human opponents for very long. I tried once, learned that I was awful at the game, and retreated to CPU opponents until I felt like I had improved. I've played... 4 or 5 games in head-to-head mode. I've progressed out of Spring Training league into SS. I'm playing with a team that is half-Hosmer mission tall dudes, half Jays innings grinders. It's a fine team for the level I'm at. If I were to run into an opponent at this level playing glitch-gotten dudes, I'd expect to stomp them, because clearly the player is terrible or they would be ranked higher. I might be bummed out - imagine how great I would be if I had all those great cards and could skip the innings grind? (The answer is not very great - I'm still not very good at hitting.)

The sentiment I'm addressing is "is it safe?" Maybe the issue is wanting to abstain from online play to make a point - until SDS pulls those cards, I'm going to be one fewer participant in online play. I can see that, as a way to protest a (perceived) injustice. If the concern is that the lower ranks are going to be flooded with teams that are better than they ought to be, then the Peter Principle applies: people will rise to their highest level of incompetence and then remain there. In the first few days, low-ranked players with inflated teams would have stomped me every time I logged in; each of those players would quickly advance to a rank where their team couldn't overcome their personal skill ceiling, and they would be the ones getting stomped. In that sense, I would say it is "safe" because, even though those cards are still out there, an equilibrium has likely been reached such that the (unfair) advantage these players enjoyed has dissipated.

I only got two of them, but I have not had mine taken away yet.

I haven't played any head to head games, so maybe that's why. Or perhaps they're just late and my time will come.

I don't play head to head games either. Just conquest, play cpu and yetis. But they took mine last week. I also only had a few, not all.

so if you do the 25 man set for every team in the division you will unlock the card? Is that what is happening? For instance collect the 25 man set for Dodgers Giants Padres Rockies Dbacks and get the 97 Matt Kemp?

It'll appear, but you don't get 97 Kemp. You have to complete the 40 man rosters for those 5 times to get 97 Kemp.
