I too could use some tips on hitting. I've been using zone hitting trying to be more patient at the plate, I've won two games. Scores have been very low.

Re: Diamond Dynasty noob questions
Hitting is a pain in the ***. It really is, the only couple of tips I can give are as follows. Be selective early in the count as most players (myself included) throw borderline pitches early in the count to try and cause swing and misses or bad contact. For the first pitch or two, I'll be really selective and only swing if its something that I can drive. I'll take borderline pitches and really wait for a fastball or offspeed (whatever I'm sitting on, most players in this game have patterns sometimes the ump will give you the call on those borderline pitches). Once I get one strike on me, I'm still doing the same thing but I don't hunt one specific pitch. But I don't really chase, I'm still looking for a ball I can drive. When I get two strikes on me, I usually switch to the contact swing and go into protect mode. I'll swing at borderline pitches and basically do whatever I can to atleast put a ball in play.
Secondly, don't use the power swing. I almost always swing using 'X' because I find if you time the pitch right, you're still going to drive it. A lot of the time with a power swing, I'll get good and green feedback and still swing and miss.
Also, take the walks. So many people in this game head to the plate chasing bad pitches and so many pitchers (myself included) will generally throw junk knowing it'll get swung at. I regularly will walk with my first two hitters, bunt them along and then suddenly I've got 2nd and 3rd with one out. A ground ball, flyball scores one and a base hit will score two. Do this in a couple of innings and you'll throw up an easy 3-4 runs. Add to that the odd homerun (there are a lot in this game) and you shouldn't have an issue scoring 5+ a game.
Finally, I steal a lot, hit and run, take the extra base and bunt a lot. I basically do whatever I can to manufacture as many runs as possible. In reality if you're facing a decent opponent, you're not going to put up many crooked numbers so you need to maximize the chances you have to score. This means moving runners along, sacrificing etc.Last edited by truth72; 04-01-2017, 09:58 AM.Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty noob questions
Can other players see your customized name plate during the game? I completed the Cardinals collection to get the attached, but all I've ever seen are "bronze" plates so I'm not sure if mine can be seen.Attached FilesComment

Re: Diamond Dynasty noob questions
Also, is anybody else feeling really overwhelmed by this mode? I've played Ultimate Team and MyTeam but this version ... there's just SO much, I don't even know where to start. Also, every diamond I can see is hidden behind walls that seem like you have to have hours and hours to play to ever get, which I really don't have as a father of a 2-year-old. Those team epics seem great until you realize how much time it will take to get those players. Then I look around and guys have squads that are full of them.
In MyTeam & Ultimate Team I can kind of "plan my route" to the players I want through solos or what-have-you. In this mode, I don't feel like I can do that at all.
What should I be aiming for, and where should I start is the question I guess I'm asking.Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty noob questions
Is your struggle that you are late on everything, and because you are late you attempt to swing early to be on time with the fastball? And by doing this, you cannot hit breaking pitches? If this is the case, I strongly recommend you considering what type of TV you are playing on. If you are playing on a huge/old tv then you are going to consistently struggle hitting quality pitching. If your tv is newer, check and see if it has game mode. If you have a computer monitor, try playing just one game on it. You will be shocked at how much different the game is when you play it on a tv with faster refresh rate. Yes, hitting is hard and will never be easy, but I have come to find that a lot of hitting issues come from trying to play the game on a TV that just isn't suited for this game.Comment

Does anybody have an answer to this question? I was wondering the same thing myself.

As for the second part - Just play what you enjoy most. You are correct, there is so many options, it is easy to get overwhelmed.
I just keep doing my thing. Unless you are a superman in this game, and unless you are willing to spend a lot of money or invest hundreds of hours playing modes you do not enjoy, you must make peace with the fact that you will not collect everything.
So, play what you enjoy and take what you earn there.
Or, focus on one specific reward at a time and do what is necessary to achieve it (in my case, this means I need to improve my game dramatically. I am not sure that I am capable enough).Comment
